Rhonda Fleming Allen, 68
Rhonda (Fleming) Allen, born Nov. 20, 1956, in Fleming-Neon, Ky., passed away on Oct. 4, 2025, from this life surrounded by love. The daughter of Clarence Cecil and Mellie Fleming, Rhonda grew up in a large and loving family with eight brothers and sisters: Duff (Billie Sue) Fleming, Randall Fleming, Scott (Vickie) Fleming, Glen (Geronda) Fleming, Bonnie (George) Goley, Veletta (Randy) May and Madonna (Alvin) Flanery .In 1973, the Fleming family moved to Bullitt County, where Rhonda graduated from Bullitt Central High School. After high school, she married William Allen of Taylorsville, Ky., and together they built a beautiful family.
Rhonda is lovingly survived by her three children, who will forever cherish the gift of their mother's love, Hollie (Ralph) Kirk, Mellie (Rodney) Miller and Clarence Zachary Hawkins. She was a devoted "Grandmommy" to 13 adoring grandchildren, Courtney, Isabelle, Jacob, Abby, Mellie Grace, Ava, Ace, Memphis, Lilah, Aubrey, Weston, Charleigh and Dylan. Rhonda also leaves behind her cherished friend, Nannie Greenwell, whom she'd provided care for many years. All the light feels dimmer today as our sweet little mommy was taken from this earth. Our dragonfly has flown away. Mom was joy and love personified - a radiant spirit who delighted in the simple beauty of life. She loved backroads and "dilly dallying," stopping to splash in creeks or admire wildflowers. Always living in the moment, she found wonder in the small things the rest of the world often hurried past. A natural caretaker, Rhonda dedicated her life to caring for others and standing up for the causes close to her heart. She worked tirelessly through her foundation, Family Preservation of Kentucky, raising awareness and helping children in foster care find their way home to their families. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader, encourager and friend - always checking in, offering love and lifting others up. Rhonda was a member of Salem Church of Christ and lived her faith daily through her compassion and generosity. Her son, Zach shared "My mom was the definition of love. I appreciate all the time and energy she gave me and my family, including my friends. Nothing will ever replace her. She is the most amazing person I will ever know. Her strength and courage are unmatched. She left a legacy of love - enough to last me a lifetime. She will always be with me, every day, forever." Her granddaughter Courtney wrote: "Grandmommy was the grandest mommy in all the land. She was the Queen and we were her royal consort - not just family and friends, but everyone she met. Every soul who had the joy of her presence immediately felt at home. There isn't a singular thing she couldn't accomplish. With eyes of the finest blue and a smile that healed your being, she didn't light up the room - she was a supernova."
We lovingly call mom, "Dragonfly." Always in motion, she embodied wisdom, resilience and light - reminding us all to adapt, to grow and to shine. May we each carry a bit of her light.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville with the Reverend Harry Tackett officiating. Interment was in the Big Spring Cemetery in Bloomfield.
