HASTINGS, Alan V.
Alan V. Hastings passed away November 9, 2016 at the Spokane Veterans Home. Alan was born in Spokane on April 17, 1922. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1940.
Alan worked for Crawford Doors in Spokane for 35 years after his return from military service in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Coast Guard. He married Nora Fern Matlock from Spokane, WA. He built their home in Deer Park and they live there until she passed away. After Nora Fern passed away, he met and married Betty Hare, also from Deer Park; they continued to live in the home Alan built. After Betty passed away, he sold the home and moved to Orchard Crest Retirement Center in Spokane Valley where he resided for five years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Hastings on November 28, 2014, and his best friend, Betty Hayes earlier in 2016. He is survived by eight grandchildren and a daughter-in-law. One of his greatest pleasures was bowling. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016. I am so sorry to hear that Al has passed away. My father and Al were of best friends. I have known him almost all my life I believe it was 1946 he worked at Lindgren Turner Decal co with my father right after the war and I always thought he was a great guy. I certainly have a lot of good memories of him and Fern. I am so sad, this is a bad day even though he had a great life sorry to see him go. Rest in peace Al. God be with you.
