Alison AVERY Obituary

AVERY, Alison Danielle (Age 28) Passed away October 26, 2015. She was born May 4, 1987 to Anson T. and Kathy Jo M. (Fletcher) Avery in Spokane. Alison was very active as a child: basketball, volleyball and climbing to the top rail of swing set. She could be found as a teen sitting on the garage roof talking on her phone. She loved reading, music, learning to shoot and shopping. She made family and friends a priority and was first to defend the disenfranchised in society. She went on to learn how to work on a sheep/cattle ranch and received her Search & Rescue certification. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from EWU in June and was already pursuing entrepreneurship. She met Chris Brookshire in January 2010 and he helped her discover snowmobiling and resurrected her love for dirt bike riding. She loved shooting her shotgun and becoming proficient at self-defense. She had been attending Greenacres Community Church, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma (an international honor society for collegiate schools of business) and a member of Beta Alpha Psi. She contributed to Wounded Warriors Project, American Cancer Society, Relay For Life and helping at Bosom Buddies Pink Ribbon Teas. Alison is survived by her fiancé Chris Brookshire; parents Anson and Kathy Jo Avery; brothers Fletch and Bryan "Ave" Avery; Alison's grandma Betty Fletcher; "Poppa Larry" Lowe; uncle and aunt Don and Concetta Christensen, cousins Glenn and Kelly Christensen; Chris's parent's Gary Brookshire, Pepi Storro and Gale Storro; Grandma Faith Phillips; Chris's siblings Beka Johnson, Travis Storro, Amanda Deland, Angela Galatin, Madison Deland, Kaylee Deland, Eli Tucker, Titus Tucker and Zoe Tucker; Chris's nieces and nephews Chloe Brookshire, Dalyce Brookshire. Jeffy Johnson and Emily Deland. She was preceded in death by both sets of her grandparents; aunt Lingie Lewis; great-aunt Sue Wright; half-sister Heather Avery; Chris's grandpa Lloyd Phillips; and sister Dessa Brookshire. A Memorial Service was held at 3PM, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Eastern Washington University Business Department Scholarship Fund.

Alison was shiny spirit who we had the honor of meeting. She was so sweet and kind and loving. She left us far too soon and will be deeply missed.

I knew Alison as a student. She was so enthusiastic and motivated. A lovely person who will be sorely missed in the Spokane community. What a tragic loss...

I will miss you SO much, Aly. You were such a special spirit, so full of love and life. You lived so much and accomplished so much in so little time. I looked forward to watching you do so much in the years ahead. No uncle could have a niece of whom they could be prouder. I'll miss you until the day we're reunited.

I love you sweet cousin. To lose you so soon is not fair! I rest knowing that we have an incredible Heavenly Father in whom we are made to be with after this challenging life and that he knows your days. You have brought so much joy to your family and their grief is insurmountable. I pray for everyone during this sorrowful time of loss. You are at peace and I look forward to meeting you there! We will miss you!

Alison, for me, will always be remembered as the "cute-as-a-bug" baby girl when her Auntie Shawn first held her, and then again, most recently, at a cousins family reunion on the coast, where she was so full of life, would come up behind you and give you a big hug, saying how much she loved you. I'm thankful her last days in this life were filled with joy and happiness. Finally, I know that I know she is with her Lord and Savior, whom she loved, and we will be reunited together again soon, for all of eternity! Heaven has much of our treasure there!

Aly was a remarkable young woman -- full of magic and determination, kindness and truth. She had a gentle, honest heart and was oh so easy to love. She'll be missed, but never forgotten. She will live on forever in the hearts of those lucky enough to know her. See you on the other side, sweet girl!

I was so sad to hear Alison is gone. She was always so happy and always so polite. What a sad thing to lose her when her life would just begin. May God comfort you all through this time.

Alison was such a joyful and giving young woman. I knew her as a NAC at Sacred Heart where her patients loved her. But I also saw her out at an event several years ago and she was so proud to introduce me to her father. She spoke often of her family and her love for them.

I love you so much. You were all I had for so many years as a kid and I don't know how I would have made it without you. We spent so much time together and I cannot believe you're gone. I've never had a friendship like the one we had, we were sisters, and nothing can compare. I miss you.

I am so sad to read this obit. I worked with Alison when she was a NAC at Sacred Heart. She was always a ray of sunshine and a hard worker. May peace come to her loved ones knowing that she made a difference in this world. May God bless you.
