Amelia MONTOYA Obituary

July 4, 1941 - February 9, 2025

Spokane Valley - Amelia Montoya passed away due to a tragic head on collision as a passenger on a chartered bus near Rock Island, WA.

Amelia was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, to father, Federico Ibarra and mother, Elizabeth Davis. Amelia is survived by her six children, Leo Montoya, Ray Montoya, Rachel Montoya (Roxanne), Carlos Montoya (Annie) Darrell, and Cristina Wallen; siblings, Louis Capra, Arlene Calsyn (Dave), Marcie Armstrong (Kirk), and Mike Davis; six granddaughters, Antonia, La Reina, Danielle, Jacky, Santana, and Halo; three great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends throughout the U.S. and Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Margie and Reuben. Amelia was a nurse for years at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Arizona State Corrections, and for elder care facilities. In retirement, she worked part-time for the Seattle Seahawks. Our mom would help anyone out, and if you needed her, she was there. She lived each day as if it were her last.

Amelia was a beautiful person with a big heart. She worked so hard to put herself through nursing school to make a better life for her and her children. She accomplished that. She was family and friend to me and sometimes mentor. Will always love and miss you.

Mom, I still can't believe you are gone. I was with you the night before and the morning of the accident that took you from us. I will cherish those last moments with you forever and ever! You were always there for me and you always made sure I was doing ok. The only thing that brings me peace is knowing you are resting peacefully in a better place and you are with your best friend auntie Margie and your mom Grandma Davis. I love you and will forever miss you! RIP Mom,
Your loving daughter
Cristina

My beautiful sister Ameliaonce you’ve met her you’d realize that she was simply unforgettable!
A larger than life personality; she loved life itself.
Full of laughter and smiles.
So generous and kind.
Always willing to do all she could to help others in need.
Loved the company of her many friends, co-workers and family.
I am her younger sister. I will forever
be grateful to my eldest sis, when as a young teenager she helped in the care of my brother and myself when infants.
Through the years, she and I would have long talks. Talks about ”Life”
the good and the not so good. We spoke most often of “Hope” where and how to find it. Though life threw her some curve ballsyou couldn’t keep her down..
Not Amelia!
She was happiest surrounded by all her childrenall “La Familia”.
She was present when our boys were born throughout the years on into her last days with my family, brother, and our mother, Elizabeth. She was loved as my sis, a sister-in-law, and Auntie of my family circle. We had so many laughs and good times together.
Amelia is a unique blessing to all our
Family. She may not be in our arms, but she resides in that “special place” in our hearts forever and always
Unforgettable!
Sleep well Sis!
I love you. Arlene
