Annette CLAUSEN Obituary

November 28, 1925 - March 2, 2024

Annette Louise Clausen, 98, of Tekoa, WA, passed away in her home on the evening of March 2, 2024.

Annette was born on November 28, 1925, in Madera Col, CA, to George Joseph and Alice Lena Waddell. The family moved to Idaho when Annette was a young child. She spent the remainder of her childhood in the Potlatch area where she worked on the family farm alongside her cousins. Annette graduated from Potlatch High School and studied education at The Normal School in Lewiston, ID. Annette taught at the Washougal and Lacrosse, WA schools before marrying Peter Clausen on June 9th, 1952. Annette and Pete enjoyed many years farming together in the Tekoa area until his passing in March of 1985. Annette lived on the family farm for the remainder of her life. She drove truck on the farm, gardened, and sewed. Pete was always very well-fed, and his socks were mended!

As a widow, Annette purchased her first-Class A Motorhome and began traveling with friends and family. She was active with the Moscow Allegro RV group and with the Plummer RV'ers since 1985. Annette always said purchasing an RV and traveling was the best thing she ever did. Annette enjoyed her trips with friends, Lela, Ena, Joyce and Addie Mae to name a few. She had so many fond memories of her trips and potlucks with her groups. Annette loved to attend live entertainment and many of her RV trips included a show. She attended many shows at The Tekoa Empire Theater and enjoyed almost all of them! Annette was an avid quilter, knitter and embroiderer. Hundreds of lucky people have quilts, pillowcases, wall hangings, dish towels, and more … She loved giving her handmade items to family, friends and donated many items to The Tekoa Volunteer Fire Dept. The Tekoa Community always looked forward to what Annette would donate at the Fireman's Auction each fall. Her quilts sold for up to $1,500 at this auction. Annette was an active Tekoa Community member and served on the Museum board and helped with The Tekoa Slippery Gulch celebration.

Annette loved animals. She had many pets over the years and is survived by her cats Katt and Tucker.

Although Annette had no children of her own, she cared for so many nieces, nephews, and friends' children. She drove kids to dance lessons and made any costumes over the years.

Annette was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 33 years, her nephew, David Wallace, and her very special cousins, Helen Rush and Gretchen Potter. Annette is survived by her nephew, Rich Wallace (Cathy) of Salem, OR, nieces, Marna Frost (Dennis) of Cashmere, WA, Clydia Valibeigi of Seattle, WA, Jackie Malinauskas (Paul) of Hayden, ID, cousins Judith Potter of Moscow, ID, Marianne Hendrix (Dennis) of Potlatch, Idaho, Karen Fitzpatrick (Dennis) of Spokane, WA, Barbara Johnson (Tony) of Spokane, WA, and Don Rush of Rio Rancho, N.M., as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Annette is also survived by close friends, Joe and Becky St. John of Farmington, WA, and Harry and Connie Brandt of Tekoa, WA.

Viewing will be at the Kramer Funeral Home located at E. 309 Henkle St. Tekoa, WA, on Friday, March 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. There will be a private graveside service for Annette at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Tekoa Goldenrod Cemetary followed by a celebration of Annette's life at the Tekoa Event Center 135 N. Crosby, Tekoa, WA, at 12 p.m., with lunch served. If you are a lucky recipient of one of Annette's bags or quilts, please bring those with you so we can all see the talents she lovingly shared with so many.

I meet Annette when she purchased her first Allegro motor home. She loved our camp outs. She traded her motor home for a larger one. She could park it as if it was a tiny car. She did better than some of the male members. Annette was a caring person. Rest in peace my dear friend.
