Betty PRESCOTT Obituary

Betty Jean (Abel) Prescott, age 84, passed away on October 22, 2025, in Spokane, WA, following a brief illness. She was born in Seattle, WA, on December 23, 1940, to Edward & Anita (Meier) Abel. Betty grew up in Auburn and Kent. She was the 3rd of four girls. On July 31, 1965, Betty married Gene Prescott. They resided in Tacoma, WA, for many years, they also spent seven years living in Anchorage, AK, and later moved to Tonasket, and lastly to Spokane, WA. They had three children: Steve, Craig, and Jenny. Betty worked most of her life in banking and bookkeeping. She later joined AmeriCorps, attended Wenatchee Valley Community College, and volunteered in the Tonasket School District. She also spent countless hours volunteering as treasurer at Lilac Plaza, where she resided since 2021. When she wasn't volunteering, she enjoyed making hand embroidered cards. She was preceded in death by Gene, her husband of over 50 years; her eldest sister, Marlene; and her youngest sister, Sharon. She is survived by her sister, Inez (Tom) Brown; her children, Steve, Craig (Billie), Jenny (Darrin); her grandchildren, Kaydi (22), Cooper (20), and Ryan (17); and several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Betty loved to socialize, she had a great sense of humor, and she was always up for an adventure. A memorial/celebration of life will be held in Spokane, at Lilac Plaza, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 1 o'clock. Another memorial/celebration of life will be held in Tacoma next Spring.

My sympathy to Betty's family. I knew Betty as a friend at the Tonasket Community Church. I always enjoyed visiting with her, and in earlier years with both she an Gene. We both made cards for the church! Betty with her needle and thread and mine are water colors. She has continued to keep the church supplied with cards to this day. I am sad to hear of her passing. She will be missed by us here in Tonasket.
