Bob ECKENRODE Obituary

Bob Eckenrode died on March 26, 2022. He spent the last year of his life at Fieldstone Memory Care where he was loved and respected by everyone, as he had been wherever he went. Bob was born June 5, 1935, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He spent four years in the Air Force after high school and ended his service at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane. He lived in Spokane for the rest of his life. Bob's first wife was Beth Davis. They divorced and he married Mary Aaker. They were married for 38 years.

Bob graduated from EWU with a teaching degree and he earned a Master's degree from Whitworth College. He taught math at Sacajawea Middle School for the whole thirty-three years of his career. Bob was an avid runner, completing 44 marathons and countless other races, including most of the Bloomsday runs, often with his two sons. He was often recognized on his daily run around South Hill. Bob participated in Bible Study Fellowship for many years and was also a member of the Marketeers investment club for many years. Bob was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, brother, uncle, teacher, friend, and faithful Christian man. He and Mary attended Hamblen Presbyterian Church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, his sons, Mark (Kati) and Matthew, and Mary's children, Tom Aaker (Caryn), Sara Hebner (Tom), Susan Wiegele (Steve), and Mary's grandchildren, Spencer Findlay (Mackenzie) and Mackenzie Findlay (fiancé, Dan Tuller). The family is so grateful for the loving care he received from everyone at Fieldstone Memory Care and Horizon Hospice. The family has chosen to have a private celebration of gratitude for the love Bob gave them during his life. He will be greatly missed but remembered fondly by everyone who knew him.
