BUMPUS, Boyd Barton

Boyd Barton Bumpus, 82, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2016. Boyd was born in Spokane, WA on March 30, 1934.
He attended Columbia Grade School and Roger's High School ('51). He also attended Eastern State College. Boyd was the youngest Governor in the Moose Lodge and received many awards for his work. He started his lighting career at Columbia Lighting in 1952 and remained in the lighting busisness for 64 years until his death. He traveled the U.S. many times designing and lighting most of the tallest buildings west of the Mississippi, several east coast buildings and the Library of Congress in DC. The last project he worked on was the new Carousel in CDA, he was very proud of that. Boyd loved to water ski, snow ski and golf. He loved to play the piano and could play many other instruments. He was a great dancer, artist, magician and joke teller as well. He always had a new joke and shared his jokes with everyone daily. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and EVERYONE was Boyd's friend! He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Alice Bumpus, two brothers (Norman and Lee Bumpus), and two sisters (Claudine Uttke and Joyce Friedland). He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diana Simpson Bumpus, his daughter Julie Beckman (Rich) and granddaughters Tara and Marissa, his son Jeff (Robyn) and grandchildren Tyler and Hayden, stepson Craig Shoquist, and his sister Doris Meyer (Norman) and many nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene.
His family suggests that memorials be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 North 5th Street, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83814 in his memory.
