Carol HEINEN Obituary
September 2, 1937 - September 25, 2025
Spokane Valley - Carol passed away on September 25th, at the age of 88, with her sons by her side. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol was born in 1937 to Herbert and June Dickinson in Anaconda, MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; and youngest son, Craig. She is survived by sons, Steven (Jan) and David; five grandchildren, Chris (Erin), Jayme (Matt), Lindi, Rachel (Brett), and Janell (Jake); and six grandchildren, Alexis, Craig, Gracie June, Brayden James, Cora Carole, and Kinslee Joy.
Carol lived most of her years in Spokane Valley, WA. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1955, after which she worked for the Spokane Chronicle. She married Jim in 1956 and went on to enjoy and celebrate 65 years together. Carol loved her family very much and was always supportive and involved in her kids' activities. She loved her time with them, whether camping, boating, the family vacations, and of course holidays. She also enjoyed watching her children and her grandchildren participate in sports. Always encouraging them and always their biggest fan! Carol also loved her time at their cabin on the Pend Oreille River. There she was always entertained watching her kids, grandkids, and extended family, skiing, tubing, playing mini golf, and playing games like Monopoly and pinochle. She loved the campfires and roasting s'mores. Also, there she could watch, feed, and enjoy her beloved hummingbirds along with owls and eagles.
Later in life, Carol and her husband traveled and made trips to Hawaii, New York City, Mt. Rushmore, Washington, D.C., which included a grand tour of the White House, California, and one of her favorites, Scottsdale, AZ, just to name a few.
Carol was a wonderful, selfless caregiver to her family, especially to her grandmother, mother, youngest son, and, later in life, her husband. She had stayed in contact with many close and lifelong friends over the years, including some all the way back to her elementary days. She appreciated those friendships!
Carol will always be missed but, we cherish the memories and will love and keep her in our hearts forever! Carol will be interred at Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley.
