Longtime resident of Medical Lake, entered into rest December 27, 2010 in Spokane, WA. Mr. Kaplan was born October 22, 1925 in Plaza, WA to Monroe and Lida (Latimer) Kaplan. Before graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran, receiving the purple heart for wounds received while fighting in the Pacific. He returned home and eventually went to work for the Post Office and retired after many years as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Kaplan also drove school bus for the Medical Lake school district and was the owner of Village Supply Hardware in Medical Lake for many years. Carroll was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, was a volunteer fireman and an ambulance volunteer. He is survived by his wife; Loretta Kaplan of Medical Lake, WA, Sons; Guy (wife Enola) Kaplan, and Kim Kaplan, both of Medical Lake, WA and Ward Kaplan of Spokane, WA, Brother; Gene Kaplan of Spangle, WA and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lyle. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake. A reception will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church in Medical Lake, WA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
