Cecil BALDWIN Obituary

In loving memory of Cecil H. Baldwin, who peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family on December 9, 2024. He leaves behind his wife, Carol; and sons, Mark (Kerri) and Jeff (Shannon); four grandchildren, Danny, Lucas, Taylor, and Rachel; and one great-granddaughter, Aston. Also, many dear friends and family.

Cecil was born in Chewelah, Washington, on November 17, 1941. He spent most of his childhood in Ford and Colville with his parents, Gordon and Marie, and siblings, Sally, Keith, Sue, and Roxanne. After graduating from Reardan H.S., Cecil worked with his father logging in the forests around the Colville area. He left logging to pursue a business degree from WSU where he met and married Carol. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past summer. After four years at the college, he took his new family to Seattle where he began his lifelong professional career in insurance. He worked at several companies, relocating to Spokane in 1972, retiring there in 2003.

Once retired, Cecil enjoyed lots of time fishing the many lakes throughout Eastern Washington. He was known for his ingenuity with Duct Tape and home projects, like creating studded tires for his lawnmower. He also had a love for intricate woodworking, crafting detailed pieces like wooden toys, furniture, and even a model combine. For several years, he and Carol traveled south for the winters in their motorhome. Their true joy, though, was spending the summers at their place on the Pend Oreille River, where they enjoyed making wonderful memories with family and friends.

While recovering from brain surgery, he saw the Light and it led him to his salvation in Jesus Christ. He followed who he called "The Big Guy" until brain cancer took him from us and sent him off to his heavenly home. Although he spent most of his last two and a half years bedridden, he continued to touch the lives of people who cared for him; truly a good man who made those around him laugh and brought us joy and comfort. The family would like to give a special thank you to Horizon Hospice for their extraordinary care and support.

A memorial will be held January 11th at 11:00am, at Living Stone Church, located at 14011 N. Little Spokane Dr. Contributions may be made in Cecil's name to Horizon Hospice and Palliative Care of Spokane.

RIP Cecil. I had the privilege of working with Cecil at Fireman's Fund back in the 1980's. He was a terrific guy, fun to be around and really knew his work - a true professional. My condolences to Carol and the rest of his family on his passing. He is smiling down upon all of us now.
