Charles KERL Obituary

Charles G. Kerl, 58, of Spokane, Washington passed away July 19, 2021. Born on March 23rd, 1963 in Seattle, WA. to Jon and Elizabeth Kerl. He was the older of two siblings.

He graduated from Whitworth University with a degree in Finance . His first job out of college he was hired at Johnstone Supply, working his way up to ownership with his business partner and great friend Dan Kennedy.

He loved skiing with his family, especially the run, Australia, at Schwietzer Mountain Resort. He donated yearly to the US Olympic Ski Team.

He was an avid golfer, which he shared a love of doing with his wife, Holly Kerl; also golfing with his father Jon and many friends.

He truly enjoyed working around his yard and talking with anyone who passed by.

He was a great car enthusiast, joining the Porsche club four years ago and enjoyed the many drives and the wonderful friends we made through it.

He donated to many organizations caring about those who could not care for themselves, including the Wishing Star Foundation, The Spokane Humane society, UM Mission, and many more.

He loved travel, one of his favorite places was Steamboat Inn in Oregon. It is by the river and he loved the peacefulness of no internet, TVs etc., where he could just sit by the river and relax.

He married Holly Kerl June 28, 1993, in Clackamas County Oregon. Honeymooning along the Oregon Coast. Recently celebrating 28 years of a wonderful lifetime of memories.

He has three children, Nylah Violette from a previous marriage. Mark Aaron, Holly's son from a previous marriage, whom he loved dearly and raised him from the age of five, guiding Mark to be a strong father and husband. Makaela Kerl, daughter to him and Holly, who he was so very proud of her and her accomplishments. He happily supported her through all her years of ski racing, sharing many special times.

He is preceded in death by his sister Francine Kerl, grandparents Fran and Eileen Kerl and Richard and Beth Leonard.

He is survived by his wife Holly Kerl, son Mark Aaron, daughter Makaela Kerl, parents Elizabeth Kerl and Jon and Linda Kerl, nephew, Jacob Kerl, daughter-in-law Michelle Aaron, granddaughters Lyndsey and Maria Aaron. His aunt Jane and Georgia, cousins, Alana and Jessica Rose, aunt and uncle Tom and Debra Leonard, father and mother-in-law, Ira and Lynn Kopelman and the Kopelman family.

A celebration of his life will follow and any donations in memory of Charlie can be made to, SpokAnimal Inland Northwest Humane Society, 710 N. Napa St., Spokane, WA. 99202 or spokanimal.org.

We all miss you Charlie, especially Holly. Feels like you're on a very long vacation and should be back home with family soon. Just doesn't seem real. I hope you're with heavenly family now and feeling peace.
