Charles PITTMANN

Charles Edward Pittmann answered the final Lord's call to serve on January 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Spokane. Born into a farming family heritage to Edward and Vena (Henning) Pittmann of Rosalia, his first service was as the eldest brother to Steve and Carol, a role he filled with pride. Attending Rosalia schools he served in 4H, FFA, Scouts, and DeMolay. From Rosalia, the family moved to raise cattle near Clarkston for his sophomore year and then Okanagon, where Charles served on the track and football teams, graduating from High School in the Class of 1956. Choosing to join the U.S. Navy after graduation, he served in the Naval Air Force on active duty and the Naval Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1962. Returning home to his beloved farm in Rosalia, He completed his course in Agriculture at WSU and began a 48-year farm partnership with his brother Steve until Steve's passing. Serving as best man at Steve and Janice's wedding he met the bride's sister Julie Painter who served as maid of honor. They married at the Rosalia United Methodist Church on July 27, 1974. Charles was proud to be blessed with son Justin and daughter Jessica, serving as the dad of 4H and FFA projects, cheering on sports, attending concerts, and attending school chaperoning events. His strength and wisdom guided them as they learned what honorable service meant. A member of the Rosalia United Methodist Church, he served as a trustee for many years. While a farmer never retires, Charles found time to serve as captain of their boat on Lake Coeur d Alene, snowmobiling, and as a gentleman of Washington State Veterans Cemetery, attending veteran burial ceremonies as a representative from the state governor and veterans affairs, along with other patriotic events with Julie across the state. Charles was a 60-plus-year member of the Grange, Knights of Pythias, Washington Wheat Growers, and Lentil Commission. Charles leaves his wife of 48 years, Julie; son Justin (Rocci), their children Hailey, Lexi, and Charlie, daughter Jessica (Ken Kile) and their children Devin and Mason, along with many family and friends. In his memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Rosalia Community Church or the Rosalia Ambulance Fund. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rosalia Community Church (formerly the Rosalia United Methodist Church). Burial and military honors will be at the Oakesdale Cemetery.
