Clara M. JOHN

Clara Magdalena John of Deer Park, Washington, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the home of her nephew, Raland John, with loved ones at her side. She was born to Joseph and Magdalena (Gerhardt) Mosbrucker in Youngstown, North Dakota, on September 15, 1927. Clara was the last survivor of her thirteen siblings. Clara met the love of her life, Hans John, at a barn dance in New Salem, North Dakota. They were married on November 29, 1947, in Helena, Montana. They had many endeavors together, including raising goats, farming, and operating a restaurant in Sprague, Washington, called The Fountain Lunch. They both loved to dance and celebrated 59 years together. Hans passed away on January 15, 2007. Clara was still dancing up until a year ago, and she would even dance to music with her walker. Her other hobbies included painting, crocheting, and knitting.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Karen Marie Knollmeyer of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who helped her in so many ways. Over the past year, Clara became very fond of her caregivers, Aura, Tnisha, and Selisa. They were like family to her, and we are grateful for the loving care they provided. She was very fond and grateful for her many friends who took her to appointments, shopping, and social functions, as well as bringing her tasty dishes to share.

Clara was a deeply religious and spiritual person. She attended the Deer Park Methodist Church. She often remarked how blessed she felt in her life. Clara also enjoyed receiving greeting cards in the mail. Most recently, she heard from a niece in South Dakota who wrote, "Rejoice that God has been gracious in giving you a long and fulfilling life. We have been blessed to enjoy your life, your wisdom, and your smiles. You have been a great example of living life to the fullest!"
