Clark Fredrick Gabel, 87, of Kingston, ID, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away on February 9, 2026, at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, ID. Clark was born September 22, 1938, in Missoula, MT, a son of the late Fredrick and Rose (Meyers) Gabel.
Clark was a lifelong resident of Shoshone County and had worked for several mines throughout the Northwest and in the Silver Valley. He retired from Bunker Hill in 1981 and from Sunshine Mine in 2002.
Clark was one of the great ones! He was not only an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend – he was the kind of man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. With the biggest heart and the kindest soul, Clark truly never met a stranger.
In everything he did, he gave 110%. From providing a beautiful life for his beloved wife and five daughters, to tending his garden, restoring classic cars, and spending countless hours teaching his grandchildren how to drive, hunt, fish, and ride motorcycles–Clark poured love, patience, and pride into all that mattered to him.
Known as the fixer of all things, Clark could repair just about anything. His garage was his sanctuary, a place where he created, solved, and found peace. Above all, Clark will be remembered for his generosity, his work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family.
In addition to his parents, Clark was preceded in death by his son, Clark, Jr; step-father, Jim Foley; and a sister, Joyce Sciuchetti.
Clark leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Irene Gabel; his daughters, Diane (Jay), Vicky (Tom), Susan, Wanda (Gary), and Nancy (Larry); 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
"A life well lived leaves a legacy of love."
A memorial service is being planned for a later date to be announced.
