Cynthia HANSON Obituary

February 9, 1960 – August 29, 2025

Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Hanson (Malcolm), 65, of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, surrounded by love, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Cindy Malcolm, born on February 9, 1960, in Burbank, CA, to Geraldine and Carl Malcolm, lived a life overflowing with love, generosity, and faith. To know Cindy was to feel cared for, accepted, and truly seen. She had a way of wrapping people in warmth -whether with one of her big hugs, her listening heart, or her playful sense of humor. She gave of herself freely and without hesitation, and her kindness left a mark on everyone she met.

Cindy's journey wasn't without challenges, yet she carried herself with a strength that was gentle and full of grace. She poured her heart into helping others, giving countless hours to the Recovery Café, mentoring and sponsoring women, and offering encouragement wherever it was needed. She had a rare gift for lifting people up and reminding them of their worth.

Her adventurous spirit carried her to places like Alaska and New Orleans, where she delighted in new experiences and good company. Nothing made Cindy happier than being "Mom" and "Grandma." She celebrated every achievement, every birthday, every silly joke, and every quiet moment with her family. Her love for them was endless, and it shone in every word she spoke and every smile she shared.

Cindy is survived by her three beloved sons, Christopher Malcolm, Joshua Hanson, and Timothy Hanson Jr.; her treasured grandchildren, Matthew Malcolm, Daniel Ryken, Kaylie Hanson, and Charleston Hanson; and her siblings, James Malcolm, Jeff Malcolm, Beverly Erickson (Malcolm), and Christopher Malcolm. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Carl and Geraldine Malcolm.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share stories and laughter, and honor the beautiful life Cindy lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cindy's memory to the Recovery Café, continuing her legacy of compassion and service.

Cindy's light, her laughter, and her boundless love will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew her. She made the world brighter simply by being in it - and her presence will be missed beyond measure.

Yesterday

Cindy was known to me as "Mouse" at Wendy's, where we both worked in/about 1980. She was very good at her job, and a favorite of Jeff, the store manager. I liked her, knew she had experienced some darkness in her life, and am so glad she lived a happy life.
