Dale PATTERSON Obituary

Dale Kenneth Patterson was born on November 18th, 1943, in Spokane, WA. He was a lifelong resident and passed away at the age of 81 on August 27th, 2025. He graduated from Mead High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving four years on active duty and two years in the reserves before being honorably discharged in 1968. He joined the Spokane Fire Department in 1970, serving the community for 20 years until his retirement in 1990. Dale was a multi-sport athlete in school, on the basketball team in the Coast Guard, on a semi–Pro Football team for a short time, and even took on bull riding at rodeos. He enjoyed traveling to the rodeos, camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and golf. He was an avid vegetable gardener, raised farm animals for a short period, and owned a horse he raced at Playfair. He had a wonderful singing voice, was a great dancer, loved country western music, made friends easily, and had a larger-than-life personality. Dale was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Patterson; and sister, Sheron Coumont. He is survived by his daughter; his grandchildren; brother, James Corde Patterson (Sonia); nieces, Debbie, Donna, and Dinee; nephews, James Corde Patterson Jr. and Brandon Thomas Patterson; and his former wife and caregiver, Linda, with whom he lived for the last 17 years. A celebration of life luncheon for Dale will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6410 N. Lidgerwood St., Spokane, WA 99208.
