1933 - 2026
Sep 13, 1933 - Mar 23, 2026
Tommy passed away on March 23, 2026, at his home, after a brief heart illness.
Tommy was born September 13, 1933, in a log house in Wellpinit, Washington, on the Spokane Indian Reservation to Milo and Millie Abrahamson. He was the third child of nine.
Spending his childhood on the Reservation, he attended grade school there, where he met his future wife, on March 2, 1945, at the Ford School, and eventually graduated from Springdale High School. After graduating, he moved to Spokane, where he attended Telegraphy School, and then he went on to work for the Union Pacific Railroad.
After Doris Peterson graduated from high school, the two married; Doris was 18, and Tommy was 21.
While in Spokane, they had three children, then moved to Marengo outside of Ritzville, where Tommy continued working for the railroad at night, and attended Eastern Washington State College during the day. They had their fourth child. After graduating with an accounting degree, Tommy got a job with the IRS and moved the family to Kennewick for 4 years, then to Federal Way for another 4 years, before moving back to Spokane in 1975, where they have resided ever since. He retired on December 31, 1995.
Tommy loved spending time out at Tum Tum on the Spokane River, water skiing, and teaching others how to as well. Tommy stayed involved in sports, between playing, coaching his children and grandchildren, and watching and supporting his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed spending time on the Reservation, whether it was hunting, cutting wood, or just driving around.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Millie (Wynne); seven siblings; and one grandson, Nathan Yunker. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris; his children, Sandy, Steve, Doug (Dee Dee), and Debby (Steve) Yunker; 15 grandchildren and one in Heaven; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
