James Abrahamson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E M Coots' Sons Inc Funeral Home on Dec. 17, 2025.
James L. Abrahamson, 83, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his home.
Born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on March 8, 1942, to the late Clarence and Helen Abrahamson, James was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he went on to have a long and successful career in Auto Sales.
James was a man who took great pride in his roots; he enjoyed sharing stories of his family history and spoke often of his Norwegian heritage. Throughout his later years, he was constantly surrounded by his loving family and always looked forward to the next gathering, finding his greatest joy in the company of those he held dear.
James is survived by his eight children: sons Kevin (Jeffersonville, IN), Adrian (Zdenka) (Czech Republic), Kendall (Jennifer) (Louisville, KY), and Michael (Ashlee) (Little Rock, AR); and daughters Star Alleman (Paul) (Louisville, KY), Jade Ferraro (Greg) (Sellersburg, IN), Eden Massie (Clarksville, IN), and Amber Hawkins (Louisville, KY).
He is also survived by his brother, John Abrahamson (Waukesha, WI), and his sisters, Sonja Messer (Des Moines, IA) and Joyce Cerami (New Berlin, WI). James leaves behind a substantial legacy through his 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
