The Simon family is holding a celebration of life service for Dale Simon on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at 1:30 PM at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Farmington, Washington. Pastors Vern Larson and Jonathon Fletcher will officiate, and the United States Army will conduct Military Honors. Mr. Simon went to Jesus on Friday evening, December 9, 2016, at his home in Tekoa, Washington.
Dale Eugene Simon was born on July 18, 1930, in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, to Harold B. and Lillian (Broe) Simon. He attended school in St. Ignatius, Montana, and graduated from high school in 1950.
On September 9, 1951, Dale married Dorothy M. Rider. He served in the United States Army in Germany for 18 months during the Korean War, and attended Montana State University, graduating in 1957, with a teaching degree in Ag Education.
The family moved to Tekoa, Washington in 1959, where he taught Vocational Agriculture, FFA and Driver's Education. Dale spent the next 54 years teaching, selling crop insurance, crop adjusting, square dancing with Dorothy, gardening, woodworking and loving and supporting his children and grandchildren, attending hundreds of ball games and sporting events. He was a member of Tekoa Mountain Chapel, and dedicated his life to God, his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dale's family will miss him greatly for his humorous, yet gentle, soft-spoken ways. His loving example demonstrated patience, kindness and love to so many. He was an inspiration for his faith and dedication to God and family, was a friend to all, and taught not only in the classroom, but also in life. He taught us to enjoy life by his fun-loving ways, and he found joy in hard work and the fruits of his labor. He also found joy in giving. He loved to dance with his wife, and was nicknamed "Fred" by his students, after Fred Astaire. He provided for his family until the very end with homegrown fruits and vegetables. He showed his children how to be a husband and a father and how to thoroughly enjoy life. We delight in knowing we will live with him again, one day.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy of Tekoa; four sons- Duane (Sharron) Simon of Rathdrum, ID, Jerry (Cathy) Simon of Ephrata, WA, Gene (Lanaia) Simon of Spokane, WA, and Ray (Regina) Simon of St. John, WA; three daughters- Janet (Garry) Now of Valleyford, WA, Susan (Scott) Huntley of La Crescenta, CA, and Julie (Bruce Widman) Cook of Tekoa, WA; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A luncheon and story-telling will follow the memorial service.
