Denis McLeod Obituary

McLEOD,
Denis J.

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was taken from us August 11, in a tragic accident on his way home from work in Canada. He was born October 21, 1946, the third of 10 children, all but one still living. We deeply mourn his passing. Denis was liked by all. He recently became a member of the Knights of Columbus. Denis attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Winnipeg, Canada. His profession of miner took him everywhere, Canada and the United States. He was dedicated to his family, wife Sandra, daughter Beth, son-in-law Rob, and their sons, Gage and Hunter. Because he was Canadian and died in Canada the family has had him cremated in Canada. There will be a memorial service in the future.

Denis was one of the best neighbors I have known. He always had time to stop what he was doing and shoot the breeze. One of the joys of his life, was taking the dogs for walks up the street. It was almost comical to see if he was taking the dogs, or if the dogs were taking him for the walk. It was amusing to see Denis and the dogs, especially when his grandson was with him. Denis was a good neighbor and I considered him a friend. I will miss his friendly wave as I was pulling out of the driveway. I will miss our over-the-fence conferences. Most of all I will miss having him as a neighbor.

Hey Denis I know you will be missed by your family and some things I will miss about you are your early morning phone calls from wherever you were working at the time, just to check how everything is going with my family. I have missed the letters you wrote to mother. She let me read them and they were full of concern and love. Mostly I will miss you. With all our love from your brother Dave's family, Carol, Robin, Tracy, Amber and Aaron!!!

Denis, I still have very fond memories of our excellent adventures as young children. There was the time we walked from St. Vital to St. Adolphe. (a very long distance for 2 young boys who decided they wanted to visit friends that had moved away). I have always looked up to you and you have always been a positive inspiration to me. I have embraced your philosophy of 'be happy' I also know you were a devoted dad and grandpa. We will all truly miss you.

We forgot to add in the Guest Book that
(as Robbie said) STAY HAPPY! He never left our home without those 2 words. He would want all of us to 'try' and be happy at this sad time.
Adios our friend.

Hey Denis, growing up as one of your younger(much younger) brothers was a real treat. I can not count the number of times you came home from the mines and treated all of us to whatever we wanted. Then you would ask who is your favorite brother?? to whitch I would respond "you are not supposed to have favorites" But who am I kidding Denis you know you are my favorite. Even though we didn't get a chance to see each other much, he will be missed. His smile and sweet spirit was one thing you could count on and needed to have to be a part of our crazy family. We're keeping you all in our prayers and remember the best is yet to be. Love and peace in Christ....

There are many who journey through life searching for a reason and a purpose. I was blessed to have discovered the manifestation of all there is needed to know about this journey within the character and personage of Denis. Having known him let me know that the treasures of this journey are within men like him. I will follow the example that he maintained and in doing so I know that I will find the way to Heaven within following his footsteps......and it is there I will see him again. This was a true Father, Husband and Friend. I stand in love and honor of you my friend...there is a vast void without you. Yet the Jewels that remain in
Sandy, Beth and your Grandchildren will continue to glisten with glory as to who you were and will always be. I loved you Denis with all my heart. Gabriel

Denis,
I am so glad that my nephews had you for the time that you did. When I took Gage to get his bike, all he did was talk about you :) I regret not getting to know you better and spend more time with you. Thank you for being the person you were to my brother and to Beth. My prayers are with the family, and I look forward to getting to see you again someday.

Dennis was an extrodanary man. He was a understanding person that held no judgement towards anybody. In my darkest days he offered a positve outlook and gave advice, love, and laughter.
