Dennis BONNETT Obituary

BONNETT,
Dennis J.

October 17, 1944-
October 12, 2018

Dennis J. Bonnett was seventy-three years young when the Lord welcomed him to rest in peace. Dennis was proud to call Spokane, Washington, his birth place and home.

Dennis often shared fond memories of the years he attended North Pines and Central Valley High School as well as Ron's Drive-Inn, the IGA Store and changing irrigation pipes in the Valley before graduating in 1963.

Dennis was selected and played on the Eastern Washington State College Football team in his Freshman year of college. However, Dennis was more football and family than college. He was proud to work with his brothers building houses in the Pacific Northwest until he was drafted into the Army wherein he was recruited to play football for his company command before shipping out to Vietnam.

Upon returning home from his service to his country Dennis worked with his brother Junior in the construction industry and went on to work with several commercial/industrial contractors. At a young age his physicians forced Dennis to retire due to his health from Shea Construction, Spokane, Washington.

Dennis loved his family and is survived by is wife, Sue; daughter, Wendy Bonnett-Iris (Matthew Iris); son, Brian DJ Bonnett, (Angela Bonnett); grandsons, Alec (AJ) Iris, Brandon Iris, and granddaughter, Mallory Bonnett. His children's friends were family or his non-tax deduction sons and daughters including, Vladimiro Alcaraz, Shane Petersen, Becky Edwards Hubble, Andy Cheroke, Tony Newcomb, and so many others.

Dennis was the youngest child of his family and is survived by one brother, Norman Bonnett and his wife Janet, his nephew, Joe Beck (Butch) that he considered to be his little brother, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by eight brothers, (Doug, Junior, Red, Hank ,Martin, John, Wilbur, Harold); five sisters, (Ruth, Joanne, Inez, Maxine, Francis); father Erva Bonnett, mother, Addy Bailey; and his beloved step father, Bill Bailey.

Dennis loved his friends, neighbors, yard work, golf and the excursions he and Sue took in the motorhome. Dennis never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

The Bonnett house was like a second home to me; and Denny was just my other Dad. The love between Denny and Sue drew everyone to them. Their home was filled with laughter; and love. I treasure those memories.
