Dennis Burgess Obituary

BURGESS,
Dennis Earl

Received his angel wings on January 29, 2012. His last moments were spent surrounded by family and friends that Dennis had touched in some way, throughout his short, yet memorable life. Dennis' life would seem short to many, but for those who were touched by him, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which you live it. Dennis was born October 8, 1964, a lifelong Spokane resident and 1983 graduate of Rogers High School, he worked as a carpenter and landscaper. Dennis spent his time with family; hanging out with his children, grandchildren, siblings or his mother and grandmother as well as babysitting nieces and nephews at a moment's notice. He enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, laughing and spending time with his friends. Dennis is survived by Dianne Gaustad (mother); Lori Burgess, Wayne Ueda (sister and brother-in-law); Lane Burgess, Penny Callahan (brother and sister-in-law); Matthew Burgess, Sandy Barber (brother and sister-in-law); Tami Burgess (sister); Ryan Burgess (brother); his children, Levi Burgess and Cody Burgess; and their mother Yolanda Kreiger; his stepchildren Katrina Youngblood and Jesse Pierson; and their mother Donna Welch; his grandchildren, Jaiden Burgess and Hunter Burgess, whom he loved dearly; as well as several nieces and nephews. With Dennis' passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him every day, especially his laugh and winning smile, he will remain forever in our hearts. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, February 4, 2012, 10:00 am. at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 West Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.

I had the pleasure of spending time with him while I visited with my best friend, Katrina. Prayers go out to the family and friends. Life is short, never take it for granted! May he rest in peace and fly among the other angels! You will be missed!

I never met Dennis but I have met some of his family. We may never know why angels get called by God too soon but know that he will forever be in your hearts and memories. Use the memory of his amazing smile I saw in his pictures to get you through the dark times. Celebrate his life when you feel like mourning his loss.

It has been years since I last saw Dennis. It sounds like he is like the rest of the Burgess's always there to lend a hand, gets along with everyone give you the shirt off his back if someone else needed it. He will be missed but his legacy will live on. I am so sorry for your loss and I look forward to seeing the rest of the family on Saturday.
