Don's quiet nature will stay with all of us fortunate people that got to know him. I will miss his sweet smile and of course his jokes.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Carolyn, and your family. Don will be missed by all.

Dr. Wall was my favorite professor and one of the reasons I kept English Literature as my major. I tried to take every English class of his. I loved his sense of humor. I told him once that he reminded me of Johnny Carson, he just smiled. I remember all his classes were listed as Monday through Friday in the registration book. It was during the first or the second class that he would announce that we could have Fridays off as long as we spent that time in the library. Of course, we all agreed, but I must confess now that I never went into the library on a Friday! I think he knew that though. He had so much patience for me! He tried, in vain, to teach me how to use my commas and to correct my run-on sentences. The last class I took before graduating the Summer of '91 was Sports in America. I still have that final paper and every textbook used in his classes. Thank you so much Dr. Wall for being such an unbelievable and exceptional teacher. My condolences to his family.

Don was one of my very dearest friends for over 30 years. He was the father of Community Recreation in Cheney. He loved and respected the community. I have never met a finer man in my life than Don Wall.

A true tribute to Don would be a bad pun. Instead, I offer a text-box- formatted limerick:
Our colleague, Dear Don, taught with such skill,
The puns, oh so quick, from his lips'd
spill,
Though we'll miss him, you know, our eyes brimming with woe
We're amazed the gods got him to lie
still.

A master of the spontaneous pun, Don was lots of fun to have as a colleague. He was especially a blast when a bunch of us got a chance to tramp the streets of New Orleans in the aftermath of a professional conference. We hauled our massive daiquiris around for hours. Jess Walter studied with him, too. His iconoclasm will be missed.

Spent many hours in the weight room at EWU with Don. He would ask for advice then continue doing like he did before.
I will miss his company and stories.

I was fortunate enough to have been in a few of Don's classes. I fondly remember his passion for teaching, the way he told a story, and his quick laugh. The whole family remains in my prayers.
