Born December 15, 1919 Hartville, OH. Passed away February 4, 2012 at his home in Liberty Lake, WA. His wife of 66 years, Dorothy, was by his side. Don enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 Ft. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his children and their spouses Denise and Richard Jamison, Diane and Casey Christian, David and Deborah Himebaugh, Douglas and Jean Himebaugh, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Guardian Angel Homes and Hospice of Spokane for their loving care and support. Military Funeral Honors Service will be held Monday, February 13th, 11:15AM Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Donovan holds a special place in our hearts. Our Mom, Verona Watson, lived across the hall from him and Dorothy at Brighton Court. We looked forward to seeing him each time we visited, as he was so kind, helpful, and positive about life. We can't mention Donovan without a smile and a chuckle! We remember him now with love and respect. We extend our sympathies to Dorothy and family.

You were the world's greatest grandpa and I'm so glad you were mine! I'm missing you every single day and there isn't a single minute that goes by that I am not thinking about you. Rest in peace and I'll see you soon one day, but not too soon. Thank you for everything. I love and miss you so much Papa.

I worked at Brighton Court when Don and Dorothy lived there. Donovan was so special to my husband and I. Our wedding anniversaries were 2 days apart and Don would always send us a anniversary card. He also sent us birthday cards each year as well as each of my children along with a dollar for each year of their age. He was a very sweet man. He would always pop his head in the kitchen to request me to make his favorite bread pudding. I will make some this weekend and smile while thinking of you Don.

Dear Himebaugh Family, What a sad time for you all. Donavan will be missed so very much. He was such a bright light in our lives and so extremely kind to my mother-in-law, Verona Watson. Sadly we won't be able to drink the bottle of Cutty Sark Scotch Whiskey we were saving for his 100th birthday. Boy he gave it one helluva run. What a ride, I was so happy to be around for some of it. Donavan always brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. I have so many fond memories and we had so many laughs together. A truly kind, compassionate, fun-loving gentleman. Always so optimistic, Donavan's glass was always half-full, never half-empty. He lived his life with gusto and pizazz and great humility. I love Donavan Himebaugh and will miss him terribly. However, every time I think of Donavan or hear his name I will smile and chuckle to myself, thinking about "my little buddy" and all the laughs we shared. Dorothy we are praying for you and your family. We love you all. Sincerely and with the warmest regards, John & Marion Christiansen.
