Dorothy MOLONY Obituary

MOLONY, DOROTHY EILENE July 1928 - February 2021 Eilene (Carson) grew up in Great Falls, MT. She enjoyed recalling stories of a wonderful childhood with family and friends. Camping and the outdoors were a big part of her family life. As a child she and her siblings were taken by an aunt to the Presbyterian Church, which contributed to her love of the Lord. In her young teens she was severely burned on a leg. Even after extensive treatment she had ongoing issues with it throughout her lifebut she did not let that slow her down. In her later teens she took up competitive archery with her father, becoming Women's State Champion of Montana in 1948. After graduating from Great Falls H.S., Eilene completed a degree in Occupational Therapy from the (then) College of Puget Sound, WA. She then joined the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, stationed on the West Coast serving as an O.T. during the Korean War, eventually becoming a 1st Lieutenant. During this time she met David Molony at a woodworking class he was teaching. They were later married in Great Falls, MT. The next year her son Harold came along, setting up her discharge from the Army. Eilene and her new family lived in Moses Lake, WA, for a few years. This was followed with the many remaining years of her life lived in northern Spokane County, WA. There she first worked for the Welfare Dept., and then as a grade school teacher in the Deer Park School District. Eilene was also active at Chattaroy Community Church. Eilene was warmly loved by all who met her. She had a friendly, sharing, positive personality that was very much appreciated by her husband, son, relatives, and friends! Her spirit of adventure made vacations and travel enjoyable. She is survived by her son Harold (Debra) Molony; three granddaughters, Elissa (Cale) Hawkinson, Rachel (Joshua) Moore, and Caitlin Molony; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers in Montana, Tom (Phyllis) Carson and Dan (Jean) Carson. Eilene was preceded in death by her husband David in 1994; and by a brother, Richard, and a sister, Barbara. A memorial will be held at a later date.

I am so very sorry to hear about Eilene. My mom and I used to spend allot of time with her and David and always had a great time. She was like a grandmother to me and was always there for anyone who might need advise or a shoulder to cry on. She will be missed.

Mrs. Moloney was my fourth grade teacher. It was a rough year for me because my parents divorced and we moved, so it was a new school. She really made a huge impression on me and I have thought of her often. When I was very young my mom was friends with her and we used to go to their ceramics shop (her and her sweet husband). Good memories. She will be missed!
