Notice to people in Heaven: Put on your dancing shoes. Dotty has arrived!

The Queen of Hospitality made her mark wherever she went. Whether it was ushering as a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, organizing potlucks at the VFW or welcoming friends at the Eagles Aerie, where she was a lifelong member, she made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. You knew when you received one of those hand-drawn, artistic flowery envelopes in the mail; it was time to celebrate your birthday. When she worked at Holy Family Hospital, you somehow made it past her little switchboard room to say hello to Dotty, just to have your day brightened. In the bygone era of local TV, she spun the wheel daily on the Dialing for Dollars afternoon movie on KXLY. No wonder Vanna White never took a vacation, knowing Dotty was eagerly waiting in the wings. She enjoyed all kinds of music, but her radio was set to classic country. While there are some "Achy Breaky Hearts" left behind on earth, we know they are dancing in Heaven. It's a whole new era up there!
Dorothy Edith "Dotty" Taie, 94, died August 2, 2017. She was born April 19, 1923 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Glen and Agnes (Thompson) Holen. She worked as a receptionist at KXLY TV, and later for Holy Family Hospital as a communications specialist. She is survived by her two sons Glenn (Denise G) and David (Lin) Fehler, grandchildren Kristen, Tonya, Matt (Amanda), Brock (Colleen), Kelcie, Justin and great-grandchildren Halle and Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Taie, and son Phillip (Denise L).
Funeral Services will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division St., Spokane, Thursday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a celebration of life at Spokane Eagles Aerie 2, 6410 N. Lidgerwood St. To leave a note for the family, please visit hennesseyfuneralhome.com.
