Dustin MAY Obituary

Dustin Tyler May was born on December 17th, 1986 in San Diego, CA. He went to be with his creator on September 29th, 2021 in his hometown of Springdale, WA at the age of 34.

Dustin was born a fighter, he was born to overcome the odds. He proved that throughout his life. Born with spina bifida and scoliosis; his parents were told from the day he was born that he had very little chance of walking. He proved those doctors wrong.

Never the one to let his disability define him, Dustin enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and working on cars. His greatest passion, however, was his desire to help others. Whether it was a ride to work, a helping hand with car trouble, or a shoulder to lean on, Dustin made it his responsibility to help everyone he could in his community.

Dustin was always the person that faced adversity with a smile. After nearly a dozen surgeries by the time he was a teenager, he always had a smile and a positive glow around him. In 2017, Dustin was diagnosed with colon cancer for the first time. He never let it get him down, he smiled through the pain and insisted that he would win the fight, and he did. When his colon cancer came back in 2021, he still had faith that he would fight and win. Dustin finished his battle the same way that he came into this world, fighting. He believed he was put through so much pain because he was the only one that could handle it, that he was tested so that others wouldn't have to be.

The list of people that loved Dustin would be far too long to print. He is survived by his parents, his brother, sister in-law and nephews, his sister, countless cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents that he loved so much. The impact that he had on his community and those he called his friends will be felt forever.

Services will be held on October 24th, 2021 at 12:00pm in the high school gym in Springdale, WA.

Donations are being accepted by the family, any funds donated will be given to Shriner's Hospital in Spokane, WA. The amazing doctors and nurses at Shriner's helped Dustin and his family throughout his life.

An annual scholarship fund has also been created in Dustin's name. It will go to select graduates of Mary Walker High School in Springdale that plan to attend a trade school.
