Dwight Rosengrant Obituary
ROSENGRANT, Dwight E. "Rosie" (Age 97) Dwight passed away peacefully May 2, 2010. Dwight and his wife Viola have lived in Bonners Ferry, Idaho the past two years so they could be close to their son, Brent. Born in a sod house September 14, 1912, Slope County, ND to Clarence and Cora Rosengrant, Dwight had one sister, Elsie. Viola's father had a vacant barn, so he decided to open the barn up for community dances. The neighbors got together and formed a five piece band. Dwight, wearing cowboy boots, rode up on his horse to the barn dance. He came from eight miles away. He tapped the shoulder of a young man dancing with Viola. Dwight was cutting in to dance with her. Their courtship started that night. Even when Dwight came out west to earn money for his parents back in ND, Viola and Dwight had a long distance romance with many letters going back and forth. After three years of being apart, a train ticket was purchased for Viola and on November 23, 1938 they were married in Spokane, WA at the courthouse. Their union produced four children, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandson. Dwight had been involved with all phases of heavy equipment most of his life. He loved to travel with Viola and they enjoyed dancing and meeting new people. He owned an airplane and used it in his business, flying all over the Northwest. Dwight is survived by sons Jerry and Bonnie Rosengrant, Council, ID. Brent and Gina Rosengrant, Bonners Ferry, ID, daughter Marla and Allen Reilly, Spokane, WA. Preceded in death by his wife of 71 years (Viola), his parents (Clarence and Cora), his sister (Elsie), daughter (Bonnie) and one grandson (Dean). Graveside service for both Dwight and Viola, will held at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 S. Cheney-Spokane Rd. May 15, 2010 at 1:00pm. Celebration of their lives will follow the graveside service at Marla and Allen Reilly's home in N. Spokane. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Bonners Community Hospice, P.O.
