Edward ENGEL Obituary
Greenacres - Edward George Engel, born May 21, 1943, to Walter and Helen (Laine) Engel in Frazee, MN, passed away October 16, 2024, in Spokane. Ed moved to Spokane as a child. He played football, baseball, basketball, and track at West Valley High School where he graduated in 1961. He then got a degree in Engineering EWU in 1965.
In December 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Larson, and together they raised their children, Thomas and Susan. Along with Bonnie's twin, Barbara Smith and her family, the Engels enjoyed a decade of summers at their shared lake cabin on Friday Bay, on Lake Roosevelt, swimming, fishing and water skiing.
Ed built many houses in Spokane alongside his dad, he later worked at Boeing in Seattle, then Square D in Spokane. Ed enjoyed retirement and traveling to Mexico and Hawaii, with Bonnie. After 50 years of marriage, he lost Bonnie but was incredibly lucky and overjoyed to fall in love again. Ed married his dearest friend and love, Jackie Pederson in 2017. Jackie kept Ed on his toes, going to the Hillyard Senior Center for monthly dances, birthday/costume parties, Wii bowling and lots of regional traveling with that group. He loved oldies music, golf, driving his Case tractor, watching Gonzaga Basketball and snowmobiling.
Preceding in passing were his parents, wife, Bonnie, son, Tom, and sister-in-law, Barbara.
Survived by his loving wife, Jackie, his daughter, Sue Engel, several nephews, and a niece. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local Alzheimer's Foundation. Ed was cremated through the Neptune Society and a private celebration will be held November 16th.
