ORVIS, Elizabeth Louise "Betty" (Hanika) (Age 82) Passed from this life on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at her residence in Spokane Valley, Washington. Betty was born March 20, 1928 in Colridge, Nebraska to William J Hanika and M. Irene McFadden - Hanika. After graduating from Wynot High School in 1946, Betty moved to Spokane with her sister Zita Parks where she met the love of her life and soul mate of 62 years, James H. Orvis. She was involved in the Catholic Church and Campfire Girl functions but her number onesatisfaction was taking care of family. She is survived by her husband James and her children and their spouses. James Jr (Mariana), Spokane Valley, WA, Marsha (Larry) Plager, Medical Lake, WA, Michael (Nicki), Spokane Valley, WA, Jeff (Mary) Lacey, WA, David, Spokane, WA, Lisa Ann(Jon) Spokane, WA, Lori Ann (Frank) Ferguson,Spokane WA. Also survived by sisters Helen Marshall, Souix City, NE, Zita Parks and Midge (Bob) Hamilton both of Spokane, WA. She had 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by infant son Patrick, parents William and M.Irene Hanika, sisters Wilma Peters, Loretta Oursland, Marguerite Johnson, and brotherWilliam G. Hanika. Memorial Service will be held Friday, 23 July, 11 am at St Anns Catholic Church, 2120 E. 1st Ave. A reception will follow at the church hall. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane, CatholicCharities and the American Heart Foundation. A very special thank you to the whole staff of Hospice. You truly are a godsend.
