Evelyn HURST Obituary
Evelyn (Lyn) Elizabeth Hurst was born in Seattle, Washington on July 12, 1922. Passed away on August 22, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva Hemple, her husband Forman Hurst, her sister Ruth Violet Panter, nieces Susan Panter and Bonnie Beeler, and nephews John Panter and Ken Beeler. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Beeler of Whidbey Island; her two sons, Bob and Dan; her nephew David Panter, (Sara), his children Jason, Troy, and Ruth along with her great-grandniece Lakai; (extended Panter/Loomis family); great-niece Leasa Freter, (Greg), children Jesse and Dakota Freter; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Lyn grew up in Seattle and enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as swimming in Green Lake. She spent many years in Chicago, where she worked as a librarian and model. Upon her marriage to Forman they relocated to Whidbey Island and raised their family of four legged fur babies. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church, served as a volunteer and director of the senior center and maintained a beautiful home and garden, and cherished her friendships with Barb her 'Whidbey Island gang'. Lyn relocated to Spokane after the passing of her husband to be closer to family, where she developed new friendships by getting involved in Bunko groups, tea parties and other social activities and events.
Lyn was adventurous and loved to travel to places like Sweden and Canada. She enjoyed hot air balloon rides and whitewater rafting; well into her eighties. She enjoyed studying genealogy and ancestry. In addition to her adventurous spirit Lyn loved the four-legged animals she owned throughout her lifetime and socializing with family and friends through dinner outings.
Angel Senior Care and Jamey were integral in providing help and care to Lyn and her family.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Humane Society of Spokane.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her!
A Celebration of life will be held Sept 19th from 1pm to 3pm at her home.

Lyn brought a lot of joy to our little neighborhood. She was the most spirited person to be around. Her sense of humor was definitely a great attribute for her. We will miss her deeply.
