HACKETT, Forrest Dean Sr.

Forrest Dean Hackett, Sr., a long-time resident of Spokane Valley, passed away June 10, 2011. Dean was a paint and wall paper contractor in the city of Spokane for sixty years.
Dean was born August 4, 1925, to Ray and Jessie Hackett, in Barnard, Mo. He attended elementary school in Barnard, Mo and graduated from Hoarsmann High School, Maryville, Mo. in 1943. He joined the United States Navy in November 1943 and completed gunnery school at Farragut, Id. He served in the Pacific Theater at Guadalcanal and at Leyte, where he was wounded. He received an honorable discharged April 2, 1946.
Dean returned to his home in Barnard, Mo. and married Mary Wiles October 19, 1946. The family moved from Missouri to Spokane, WA in 1948 and Dean was hired by Cyr Painting. A career Dean would have for the next 60 years.
He joined the Spokane Bowling Association in 1962 and held several offices including President and was inducted into the Spokane Bowling Hall of Fame in 1982. Dean was also a member of the Northwest International Bowling Association, serving as Director and President. He was inducted into the Northwest International Bowling Association Hall of Fame in May 21, 1994.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Valley Open Bible Church where Dean is a member.
He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Salfen of Oro Valley, AZ and Rebecca Sue Seubert of Priest River, ID; his son Forrest Dean Hackett, Jr., of Hermiston, OR; a sister, Dorothy Jones of Amarillo, TX; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Foundation or to the Shriners Hospital.

The Bryant Family of Richland, WA are saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend and bowling colleague, Dean. He was a gentleman, a patriot, and will be remembered fondly. Our condolences to the family. Janet & Dave Bryant, WSUSBC

The Davis family of Brookville, Pa extend our deepest concolences to the Dean Hackett family..you may not remember us, but we stayed with Dean when he was married to Liz. My son Scott and I Cindy, had lots of fun with him, and really appreciated his generosity.
