Fredrick KRUGER Obituary

Born January 20, 1951, to George and Leta Kruger, Fredrick George Kruger passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Newman Lake, Washington. In the early 1970s, Fred received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Soon thereafter, August 4, 1977, he married Ellen "Laurie" Quigley in Canon City, CO. In the 1970s, he worked as a Mineral Geologist for the Inspiration Development Company, and from the 1980s through most of the 1990s, he worked for Salisbury and Associates in Spokane, WA, retiring from Crux Subsurface Inc. in 2020. Fred really loved geology which was his "life's" work and happiness. Fred is survived by his wife, Ellen "Laurie" Lorraine Kruger of Newman Lake, WA; and two sisters, Karen S. Wise of Trumbull, CT, and Sara K. Bressin of Glouchester, VA. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leta Kruger. A Celebration of Life is being planned for Summer of 2025. GO WEST YOUNG MAN
(Poem Written in Memory of Feddie Kruger)
I hear the song of Montana
Where rivers run to the sky,
Where the Powder River spreads its wings
Where the eagle dares to fly.

I'll follow the song of Colorado
Where the wind has a million hands,
Where the cougar leaves no footprints,
In valleys where the cottonwoods stand.

I feel the winds of the Dakotas
And smell the burning sage,
Across the Snake where the cattails wave,
Recollecting another age.

I know the seasons' glad attire,
And the Rockie's many faces,
The canyons tumbling freshets
Where the salmon races.

I will find my way through this trackless land
Where the asphalt highways cannot run,
Where the spider spins her captive song
And the cactus laughs at the sun.

I must cross the Father of Waters
Where the Lakota sleep the long sleep,
Where the sunfish laze in the shadows
And the catfish spins in his leap.

I must make my home in this place
And kneel upon the sod,
And make a place for the future
Where a planted seed may bear a god.

I remember Freddie and I as teenagers driving around in in my 37 Plymouth with bald tires...skiing in Georgetown. He always beat me at chess, a terrific player and a rugged outdoorsman. I will miss him. Mac Glenn
