George was the best coach I ever had. He took a couple of us to watch his alma mater play Elgin Baylor. He and my dad were great friends in part because dad worked in the Butte copper mines like George's own father. George was born in Butte.

Coach Chalich was one of the finest people I ever had the privilege and honor to know. He was my mentor in both academics and athletics and was the main reason I was able to continue my athletic career after high school. I am truly saddened to learn of his passing. So many wonderful memories of my time with both him and his family.

George was my catcher for several seasons when we both played baseball for the St. John Town Team. He had a great understanding of calling the right pitch at the right time. A great guy and great athlete but more important a wonderful man.

To one of the best teachers I ever had.
The students that never experienced him as a teacher, truly missed out on a "Remarkable" teacher, human being and all around great guy.
He never made you feel less of person for what you did or what you didn't have but made sure to let you knew that you were great person in society and hold you're head up high.
You will be missed.
