Hela HUMMEL Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Hela Anne Hummel, 82, who peacefully went home to her Saviour after a courageous battle with lung cancer on April 5th, 2024.

Hela was born on February 24th, 1942, in Berlin, Germany, and raised in Bremerhaven, Germany. On September 4th, 1961, Hela married Randolph Hummel and would have celebrated 63 years of marriage this year. They eventually settled in Medical Lake, Washington, where Hela spent the last 53 years of her life making an indelible mark on her community and everyone she came in contact with. Hela loved Jesus, her church, her friends, and her family. She loved to cook, bake, entertain, play cards/dice, laugh, and find good deals. There was rarely a thrift store she didn't like.

Hela leaves behind her loving husband, Randy (Medical Lake, WA); her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Charlotte Hummel (Victoria, TX); her son, Dan Hummel (Spokane, WA); her brother, John Biagini (Clermont, FL); her cousin, Karin Colquitt (Baltimore, MD); and four grandchildren: Kelsey (Jordan) Kirkland (Spanaway, WA), Michael (Savannah) Hummel (Puerto Rico), Andrew Hummel (Spokane, WA), and Caleb Hummel (Spokane, WA).

A special thank you to Charlotte Hummel and Chad Dolan for their dedication and loving care, and to Medina, Rick, and Edith from Hospice of Spokane.

The family is presently finalizing plans for a celebration of life to honor Hela.
