Helen HANSHAW Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Frances Hanshaw on September 24, 2023, at the age of 92. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend, and member of our community.
Helen was born on October 14, 1930, in Granite City, Illinois to Floyd Franklin Lane, Sr. and Margaret Ann "Martha" Britton Lane. She went to high school at Lewis and Clark in Spokane, Washington. She met the love of her life, Charles William Hanshaw, Jr. in Spokane and they married in 1948. Charles and Helen lived in Spokane for the remainder of their marriage and had six children. Helen was a homemaker. After Charles passed, Helen lived in the same apartment building for 37 years where she helped the elderly.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Martha Lane; her husband, Charles Hanshaw, Jr.; her siblings, Georgia Davis, Floyd Lane, Jr. Charles Lane, Kenneth Lane, Ray Lane, and Doris Knight; and two of her children, Bill Hanshaw and Thelma Connors.
Helen is survived by her children, Sindy Kardokus (Cody), Martha Hansen (Robert), Debra Herman (Jamie), David Hanshaw (Nicole); seventeen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and sibling Donald "Donnie" Lane.
A small celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 4:00 PM at the Fellowship Church of God, 2102 E. Everett in Spokane, Washington. The service is open to the public. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at heart.org in memory of Helen Hanshaw.

Dear Martha,
My heart broke for you when I saw that your mother passed. Although I didn't meet her, she looks like she was a lovely woman.
