Hilton Ambrose Haney REIDSVILLE- Hilton Ambrose Haney, 84, of 1008 Walnut St. died Wednesday (Sept. 19, 2012) at the Hospice Home of Rockingham Co.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00PM Sunday Sept. 23, 2012 at Citty Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites. Born in Reidsville on September 8, 1928, he was a son of the late Charlie A. and Hattie Paschal Haney, and had lived in the Reidsville area all of his life. Hilton was the last surviving member of Reidsville Lindsey St. Primitive Baptist church where he had served as Clerk, a Deacon, and Trustee. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War serving with the 40th Infantry Division as a Sergeant and was given several awards including the Combat Infantry Badge, two Bronze Stars, the Korean Presidential Citation and the Korean Service Medal. Hilton retired from Rentz Oil Co. after 39½ years. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, and a granddaughter: Angela. Surviving is his wife of 64 years: Sarah Jane Allen Haney of the home; son: Phillip Ray Haney and wife: Gayle of Reidsville; sisters: Everline Rice of Reidsville, & Nellie Gray Haney of Reidsville, grandchildren: Jason Haney, Shannon Haney Rhodes and husband: Adam, & Michael Haney and fianc‚: Brittany Bell; great granddaughter: Addison Rhodes, many nieces and nephews. Hilton thought of his neighbors and friends as family. The family wishes to thank our friends and neighbors for the many prayers, gifts, cards, and calls.

The family saw friends from 6:30 till 8:30 PM Saturday Sept. 22, 2012 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of his granddaughter: Shannon Rhodes 124 Tinderbox Rd.
