Inez Kuder Obituary

KUDER, Inez Helen Christianson Inez Helen Christianson Kuder was born on August 13, 1912, to Alfred and Lucy Christianson in Seattle, WA and raised in Mt. Vernon, WA. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1935 with a Masters in Information Technology/Librarianship and was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She earned her varsity letter from UW (belatedly in 2007) for being a member of the 1934 national championship riflery team. After graduation she worked as a children's librarian and radio "story lady" in North Hollywood, CA, and then in Everett, WA where she proudly drove the Bookmobile. An Irish couple who saw her at daily Mass in Everett introduced her to a young man from Spokane; in 1941 she married the young man, Aloys Kuder. They settled in Spokane where they raised their seven children together on 25th Avenue; a favorite week each summer at Camano Island continued for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by twin infant daughters in 1956 and her husband in 1977. Mom was active in the Jesuit Auxiliary and the Greater Gonzaga Guild. For 67 years she was a member of the St. Gerard's Guild at St. Augustine's Parish, a group of women with whom she met monthly through last month. As a volunteer, she lent her expertise in coordinating library organization and Dewey Decimalization of collections at St. Augustine's/Cataldo School, Gonzaga Prep, and St Michael's Institute at Gonzaga University. Mom is survived by: Children Steve Kuder, SJ, Mary Beth and David Celio, Marguerite and Mike Busch, Ann Kuder and John Russell, Phil and Toni Kuder, Jan and Creigh House and John and Celeste Kuder; Grandchildren Michael David Celio (Karen Wang), Angela Celio Doyle (Peter Doyle), Christine Inez, Maria Isabel and Carolyn Elizabeth Celio; Kevin Busch (Kira), Michelle Busch Green (Phil), Jeff Busch, Stephanie Busch Drake (John); Stephen Russell (Jen), Joseph, Louis and Martha Bea Russell; Bill Kuder (Katie), Tom, Natale and Christy Kuder; Anthony, Amanda, Rebecca and Robert House; Austine, Mary and John Paul Kuder.Great-Grandchildren Catherine and Andrew Celio; Elizabeth Doyle; Nicholas, Emily, Jonathon and Ryan Busch; Zoey, Carter and Spencer Green; Will and Matthew Kuder. She is also survived by her sister, Bea Stratton and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (she loved them all equally and could tell you all their names and remembered all their birthdays). Family gatherings (and there were many), eating out, knitting, reading, the Interplayer's, and the ZAGS were also favorite events. You may remember her from the Maplewood Gardens TV ad in a sit-and-be-fit exercise class - we still smile to see her frequently on the screen. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Society of Jesus, Oregon Province, Aged/Infirm Fund Charitable Trust c/o P.O. Box 86010, Portland, OR 97286. The Vigil Service/Rosary will be held at Jesuit House, 1106 N. Astor, on Friday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, 330 E. Boone Ave. on Saturday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Please sign Inez's online guestbook at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements by
