James McKELVEY Obituary

James "Jim" McKelvey of Spokane passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, he was 82 years old. Jim was a graduate of Mead High School, Class of 1962, where he was an Eagle Scout. After graduation, Jim graduated SCC with a degree in Heavy Equipment Hydraulics. He spent the next 11 years working for Case Power and Equipment. In 1975, Jim became one of SCC's instructors in Heavy Equipment department, where he worked for 30 years. Jim was a lifelong farmer and worked his last harvest in August of 2024. As a volunteer firefighter and commissioner for Fire District 10, Jim finally retired from the fire service after 31 years (2019).

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Noncie Stewart, with whom he had three daughters, Annette (Kyle) Anderson, Alanna McKelvey, and Angela (Douglas) Bell; three grandchildren, Rylee, TJ, and Wesley and his sisters, Joanne McCauley, and Jean Johnson (Tim Weston).

His Celebration of Life will be on September 21, 2024, from 2 to 5 pm, at the Eagles Lodge #2. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim's life, 6410 N. Lidgerwood St. Spokane, WA 99208.

I was in Jim´s hydraulic class at scc the last year he was there. He was a good teacher and I have a few fond memories of pranks he would pull and the lessons he taught that I still use to today as a heavy equipment mechanic. He and his family will be in our prayers and My deepest condolences.
