James WILLIAMS Obituary

WILLIAMS, James (Age 78) James "Jim" Williams was the third of four children born to Detroy and Iva Williams on August 19, 1942. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Jim disliked New York and at an early age migrated west to California. At the tender age of 17 he was on his own but found a church in Oak View, California (The Full Gospel Lighthouse). He was soon taken underwing and considered a son to members of the congregation, Clyde and Frances Reed. A few years later he met his wife Jeanette in Ojai, CA. Jeanette taught Jim to ride horses and he loved it so much that he began to compete in Gymkhana pattern racing events where he won a series of ribbons. Jim and Jeanette were married in May of 1966. Jim served state side during the Vietnam War in the Army, and then became a welder/fabricator. While he loved that job he was always aspiring to something more. So with diligent saving and hard work he bought a diesel truck and began doing short runs hauling construction materials and oil. Jim was a doting father and is remembered by his children as rarely missing an event that they were in but often arriving with truck and trailer to events in just a nick of time. Jim and his family lived in Ventura, CA until the summer of 1988 when he moved his wife and three children to the Spokane area. Hunting and fishing were his passion. Jim was always anxious for grandchildren so when his first grandchild was on the way he bought some plans and was excitedly building her a lovely heirloom cradle when he fell victim to his first stroke, and 15 years later, he succumbed to the second. On January 24, 2021 Jim Williams died of complications related to his second stroke. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Williams; his son David Williams; and daughters Sharon Lake and Ruth Williams; his sister Betty Jo Williams; son-in-law William Lake; daughter-in-law Michelle Williams; and his three grandchildren Cierra Williams, Cody Williams, and Cevanah Williams. He will always be remembered for his extreme devotion to Jesus Christ, for his generosity of spirit, and for his wonderful sense of humor. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Children's Tumor Foundation. This charity means a great deal to Jim's family.

He was such a loving father, I will love him always with all my heart. He could always make me laugh and smile. When I was down he was always there to comfort me and assure me that everything would be alright. He had such a sense of humor, and I look forward to being with him again one day. I love you Dad!
