Always a lady who reached out to others, I am sure God is rewarding her greatly. Not enough words to express my gratitude for the time she was there for me.

I wanted to share this with you as a thank you. Abbreviated version of post I put shortly before my mom passed.

After I got to Spokane today I sat next to moms bed, held her hand & visited with her as she slept. She had been unresponsive for a couple days before I arrived.

I was so thankful when after about 10-15 minutes of my rubbing her hand, smoothing her hair & babbling to her about everything from how the kids were doing to the weather she opened her eyes, smiled & said "hi honey, how long you been here?".

We visited for a bit then Ashe came in & we got her to take something for the pain & we all visited for awhile longer. After awhile she began to get tired again. Ashe got her all set up & tucked in nice & comfy. I sat & visited with her for another 1/2 hour or so before she dozed back off and was soon fast asleep again. She has woken up several times since I laid down by her to make sure I am still here & to say those magic words of hers "I love you honey".

At the end with grandma Helen I knew many of the things I thought she wanted to & would say if she could. I sat their & repeated them to her one by one, feeling her squeeze my hand each time.

I assured her we all knew those things, all loved her so much & that it would be ok if she wanted to rest. That she would be ok, we would never forget her & would see her again someday. That I thought she deserved to see grandpa again & we would all see them there soon. I will never forget how she squeezed my hand & smiled at me with her eyes.

I had the same experience with grandpa Glenn before he passed. I held his hand during the time grandma asked everyone to give him & I some time alone that last night in the hospital. I sat with him alone for some time.

I assured him I would watch out for grandma & mom the best I could. That we would all be ok until we saw him again & how much we all loved & cherished him & many more private moments. I will never forget when I got there they told me I would not get a response from him at that stage. And in true grandpa form he proved them wrong when he squeezed my hand firmly for what felt like forever.

Not long after that he passed away that same night. I had not realized grandma had overheard much of my time with grandpa. But she later hugged me fiercely & thanked me for what I had said. She propheticly said I would do the same for her someday, she was sure of it. Of course at the time I was hearing none of that talk from her just yet but she just smiled & said the same wonderful words I heard tonight from my momma. The words I can always recall in my times of need...

"I love you honey".

I love you momma.

Even the silent tears I said those words through tonight seem far away when I heard that reply. Those four words that will forever answer my call, in my heart & soul, "I love you honey".

I am deeply grateful to everyones prayers, kind words & love shown to my mom & our family. None of it will ever be forgotten & during those times you are missing mom, Janet, grandma, Jan or however you may remember her I urge you to remember those four words that give me strength & that she thinks about every single one of you....

"I love you honey"

I love you momma.
Forever your son
