Janet E. DAVIS

1921 - 2021

DAVIS, Janet E. (Carr) Janet Elizabeth (Carr) Davis made her transition February 21, 2021, just a few days after celebrating her 100th birthday. Born on February 10, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to Dean William Carr, Sr. and Minnie Mae Elizabeth (Pinkerton) Carr, she was the oldest of three children. Growing up on the shores of Lake Erie in Euclid, Ohio, with her sister Doris and her brother Bill, Janet loved the beach and enjoyed a childhood filled with her family and friends who lasted her lifetime. Her family nickname, Pat, was a result of her love for dolls, especially the Patsy Dolls of the 1920's. The family moved to Santa Ana, California during WWII, where Janet met and married Everett Davis. Following their divorce, Janet and their daughter, Cathy, remained in Santa Ana close to their family. Weekends would often find Janet and Cathy at the beach, where Janet loved to swim "laps" in the ocean at Corona del Mar's "Big Corona Beach". While she enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper, her most meaningful job was to be the best mom possible to her daughter. Following her own mother's path, the Unity Church provided a steady guiding light throughout her life. A loving, kind and compassionate woman, she honored others' spiritual paths. Her family, both close and extended, was precious to her and she was fiercely protective of everyone she loved. She was so proud to be a mom, gramma and great-gramma. Janet was inquisitive, opinionated, independent, and was a supporter and advocate of those less fortunate. One of her final goals in her life was to participate in the presidential election of 2020. She was so happy with the result! And, of course, her love of a really good latte or a frappuccino to share was legendary. Janet moved to Spokane in 1988 to be close to her family, but enjoyed road trips back to Orange County to visit loved ones. She especially enjoyed a trip to Europea lifelong dreamwith Cathy. Janet so appreciated the wonderful staff at Fairwood Assisted Living, who honored and respected her independent spirit. Linda with Horizon Hospice was our family's angel. To Dr. Mary Badger, Dr. John Everett, Kim Spain, Dr. Carrie Roller, Dr. Steven Dixon, Dr. James Porter, Peggy VanDeLeest, and Brad Dettman...you were part of her village and she thought the world of each of you. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doris M. Rice, brother Dean William Carr, Jr. and nephew Howard Rice, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Cathy A. Akins and son-in-law John, her grandchildren Alyssa E. Akins and J. Chris Akins (Kim), and great-grandchildren Maya, Hunter, Cameron and Chloe. She was a loving "Aunt Pat" to her niece Cindy L. Cook, nephew Paul D. Rice (Rhonda) and their families, always holding them close to her heart. Per her wishes, her final resting place will be where the ocean breeze takes her.
