Janet HOOPER Obituary

HOOPER, Janet Elaine Janet Elaine Hooper, 57, of Midvale, passed away Saturday, January 17, in the home of Kevin and Elise Hooper. Janet was born to Robert and Pearl Hooper in Mountain Home on April 27, 1957 and grew up in Midvale. She loved softball and basketball, and according to coach Danny Warfield, was the first girl he had ever coached with a jump-shot. She excelled at academics and sports alike and was voted "Most Athletic", "Most Likely to Succeed", as well as earning valedictorian at Midvale High School in 1975. After high school she went on to enjoy intramural basketball and field hockey at Boise State University, and worked as a teller at banks in Boise and Weiser. Janet eventually completed a Bachelor's degree of Psychology at Eastern Washington University and went on to work in the Psychiatric Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane for sixteen years, working mostly with teenagers. When not working, she loved to play golf, bake cookies from scratch, and enjoy the scenery around Lake Chatcolet. Janet was known as a gentle, compassionate, loving person with a good sense of humor, and had the best penmanship and the most organized home. A friend recently said of Janet, "she surely has the cleanest most pressed wings in Heaven." She also loved her dogs Bailey and Jaz, who kept her in great company. Janet was plagued by many physical ailments in life, but had a will to live much stronger than those ailments. Even through adversity, she always had a smile and a hug to give to those around her. She is survived by her brothers: Allen (and Kathleen) of Rosamond, CA, Cary (and Lynn) of Meridian, and Kevin (and Elise) of Midvale; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Midvale Church of Christ. Services are under the direction of Lienkaemper-Thomason Funeral Home. Donations in Janet's name may be made to The Angel Wings Network and Love, INC of Washington County.

I have known Janet since the first grade. As a compliment to her parents, she was raised right. But, she had her own mind, and her own set of standards, as well.

She was a perfectionist in everything she did, which led to her success in academics and sports. She judged no one, but herself. Whether she was in school, or out of school, she was a friend and never a foe.

She always gave more than she got, and all of us are better for having known her.

I bid Janet, a heartfelt, good bye.

We worked the eve shift on the adolescent child unit. there are many memories of those times. Janet is remembered for many things one of her talents was the unique hand writing she painstakingly applied in many areas of the job. Hoping she is resting in peace and comfort.

I worked with Janet all 13 years she was at Sacred Heart. I remember her kind heart, compassion for others, and perfect hand writing. I know she will be missed by many as she touched so many lives.
