SUNRISE AT RED LAKE TODAY
DAD
January 21, 2018
Hi Jeremy John,
Today, I started my hike to your stream and saw a fantastic sunrise at the beginning of the hike. I attached a picture for you to view. When I took the photo I was wishing with all my heart you could be standing next to me to see it in person. But, then again, you now have a way better view of things then I do. Mom and I love and miss you so incredibly much!!
YOUNG JEREMY WITH HIS PARENTS
Dad
December 21, 2017
Dear Little Man,
Can you believe its been exactly one year when you left us to be with Jesus? Yes, it was the first day of winter 2016 when your lifelong valiant fight ended and your new life began!
A lot has happened in that year both good and bad. This bedraggled world continues to turn unsteadily but one thing will never change. We continue to miss you and wish you were still with us on this imperfect world. You gave the world special meaning to all of us!
Today I will celebrate your life, on this cold December day, [once again the first day of winter] by hiking to your stream and reminiscing. However, I won't be cold and I won't be alone as my thoughts of you warm my heart and soul when I take my daily hikes!
Your mother and I love you Jeremy John and we miss you young man! Talk to you soon. Merry Christmas!

Mom and I went down to the Selway to camp and fly fish two weeks ago. We took Bob and Sue to the Lochsa Historical Ranger Station where you first went with us way back in 2001. I've enclosed a photo showing you checking out the Osborne Fire Finder at the ranger station. Look how young you were. And your sisters, too!
I love and miss you!!

For your birthday present I've included the picture of the blooming wild rose bush in our front yard. I told you about the bush a few weeks ago and sent you a picture of it's first bloom. Remember? It looks and smells great. This morning I will be hiking to your stream and I will talk to you then.

June 18, 2017
Hello my first born son Jeremy John!
Today is Father's Day 2017 and this is my first year without you in my life. It's a bittersweet day because I miss you so much! However, I know you are pain free and are with Jesus so I am glad, too!
I took my daily hike to your stream today and I am including a photo to show you how green it is this time of year. The flow of the stream has diminished now but it is still going strong and reminds me of you and how strong you were in life.
You are a hero to so many people because of the way you lived and the stream reminds me of you. The stream is the lifeblood to animals and plants in the forest and your gifts of your numerous blood donations were the lifeblood to countless people over the years.
You are an incredible young man and I love and miss you terribly!
FIRST WILD ROSE BLOOM FOR 2017

June 1, 2017
Hi Jeremy John,
Here is the first blossom of 2017 on our front yard wild rose. I transplanted this wild rose from the back yard wild roses. It's grown very well and I'll send you a photo of it when it's in full bloom.
I love the fragrance, too. I know you remember the fragrance since you grew up with all the wild roses growing on our property. I hope they have wild roses in heaven to make you feel at home.
Talk to you later. I love and miss you!

Hi Jeremy John,
Today is Mother's Day 2017 and the first Mother's Day without you. I was hiking up to your stream this morning and took a picture of these pretty flowers. I'm attaching them to this message and will tell Mom they are from you. Is that Okay?
It was cold this morning as I hiked and the sun was hiding but I did get to hear some gobblers during the hike. We're taking Mom out to lunch. Jared and Shelby will be there. I wish you could be there, too.
As always, you will be in our heart's and thoughts! We love and miss you our first born! Don't forget. You're the one who made your mother a mother!
Love you buddy!

April 30, 2017
Hi Jeremy John,
I was hiking up at our special place the other day and saw the first sign of arrow leaf balsam root for 2017. Its actually a sun flower. It was a food source for Native Americans many years ago. Its quite abundant in our area and I've been around it since I was a little kid. I've attached a picture for you. Well, it's time to go hike our area again. I love and miss you mister!

Hi My Son,
Here is is Easter 2017, your first Easter in Jesus' loving embrace! I know you're in a better place and are whole again but I wish you were still here with us.
I've attached a picture of a funny looking plant growing in your stream. It will be your special Easter 'lily', okay? It sure is a funny looking plant, isn't it? I'll take a photo of it when it's fully blooming.
I'm hiking up to your stream at first light today and will be thinking of you.
I love and miss you!

Hey Basketball Boy,
Here is the front page of Tuesday's Review showing Nigel Williams-Goss and Coach Few near the end of the national championship game. Nigel was overcome with emotion when he knew the Zags wouldn't be winning the game.
However, Nigel will be back in the fall to lead the team to another try at the championship because he is currently a junior. He is a very good and humble leader who won the academic award as he had the highest GPA [3.8] of all the athletes who participated in the final four games.
Talk to you later Mister! I love and miss you!

Hi Jeremy John,
Well Gonzaga didn't play well enough to win the national championship. So, the burning will continue next season. They will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. As they say, "Wait til next year!"
I wish you could have been with us watching the game but maybe you had the better view anyway.
I love and miss you Mister! Talk to you later my son.

March 26, 2017
Hey Little Fella,
Guess who's going to the Final Four....no, not Eastern....it's Gonzaga!! They finally did it! They beat another Catholic Jesuit school, Xavier, yesterday. So, the Zags will play next Saturday to see if they go to the national championship game. Cool, huh? I'll let you know what happens, of course.
I've attached a picture of the front page of the newspaper for you to read since you don't need to use Braille anymore.

March 23, 2017
Hi My Little Man,
Here is the cabin mom and I stayed in at Elkin's Resort. We had the whole place to our selves. It was fun except all the restaurants were closed so we had to make our own anniversary dinner.... We even watched the Zags game which they won and are now in the Sweet Sixteen. Today the Zags play for a chance to go to the Elite Eight. I hope they make it! I think about you all the time wishing you were with us!!
I love and miss you!!
JEREMY'S STREAM
Dad
March 17, 2017
Here is the stream I hiked up to today on St. Patrick's Day at my Red Lake land. I have unofficially named it "Jeremy's Stream." You'd like it. It's a nice place to visit. I've included a photo of your stream.
It's running pretty good due to the snow melt and is a brownish color from the sediment. It's usually very clear and cold except during runoff. Even a small stream has the ability to erode the earth. Over the years I've drank from it but I use a special straw filter so I don't pick up any nasty parasites such as giardia. Been there. Done that.
I love and miss you my first born!
ST PATRICK'S DAY SUNRISE 2017
Dad
March 17, 2017
Hi my Irish Son! It's your first St. Patrick's Day since you decided it was time to visit Jesus fulltime. Are you having corned beef and cabbage? I hope so! I'm making some for mom, Shelby and Taelynn tonight.
I'm using granny's recipes which you enjoyed when we all got together at her house over the years. She's having the gang over on Sunday for a belated St. Patrick's Day dinner but mom and I won't be there since we'll be up at Priest Lake for our anniversary. I've included a photo of the St. Patty's Day sunrise at Red Lake as I started my hike today.
Say "hey" to GG since she is our claim to our Irish heritage when she immigrated from Ireland in the very early 1900's.
I love and miss you Irish Kid!!
DEANNE AND TOM ON THEIR WEDDING DAY 3-19-77
Dad
March 15, 2017
Hi Jeremy John,
On Saturday, mom and I are going up to Priest Lake at Elkins resort for 2 days. We're renting a cabin to celebrate our 40 years of wedded bliss. Sunday, March 19th is the actual day. We will be thinking fondly of you since you are our first born!! Attached is a picture of us on our wedding day. Boy, were we young!! Boy, are we old!!
PS-Also, today, as kind of an anniversary present, I ordered that truck I told you about a few months before you left us. I won't get it for 12 weeks but I will send you some photos when I do. This summer I will take you up to the cabin in the truck so I can spread your earthly remains at that beautiful vista I told you about.
I love and miss you my wonderful son!!

Hi Jeremy - Chuck and I had a wonderful morning today - visiting a place where you spent a lot of time. At the Lighthouse - your friend, Greg, gave us a great tour and it was easy to see why the two of you were friends - you both have a great sense of humor. We even got to see your beautiful bride and she showed us the work she does. The man in the front office said you and he were hired the first day and you would often help him in the office. Everyone thought so highly of you - and you are missed. Anyway, it was really amazing to see where you worked and the wonderful job going on there. We plan to go back on June 1st for a fundraiser there. Miss you!

January 21, 2017
Hi Jeremy John,
Tonight will mark one month since you left us and the pain and sorrow hasn't abated. I know eventually it will soften over time. It's just hard to accept because you went through so much pain and suffering during your 36 years on earth.
You wanted so badly to live a normal life and you did the best you could to fight this scourge called cancer. You are an everlasting inspiration to your family and friends!
I just don't quite understand why God put you through this when you didn't deserve it in the first place. I hope He explained things to you now that you are with Him.
I love and miss you terribly!

JEREMY'S FIRST FULL MOON SINCE HE LEFT US
Dad
January 12, 2017
Hi Jeremy Jump,[remember me calling you that when you were a little fella?]
It's your first full moon this morning since you had to leave us. I'm up early and the moon light is reflecting off all the snow we have. It's also brutally cold, too! Minus 4 degrees! And the last few days I've had to give the tractor a work out clearing all the drifting snow from our road so I've been kept busy. It's so cold I had to finally get a new battery for the tractor.
I went out and took a cell phone pic of the full moon exactly at the time it was full today.[0335hrs] Cell phones don't take moon pics very well but I've added to this message anyway. One of our pine trees is in the photo to give it perspective. Hope you like it. I love you and miss you!

Just thinking about you today - it's snowing and we used to have fun in the snow at recess. Your memorial service on Saturday was incredible and such a testament to how much you are loved. People told some great stories about you, I'm sure you would have enjoyed it! Your family did a great job! You and the stories about you reminded me about what is important in life - thanks buddy! Your spirit will live on in the lives of all the people you touched!
THE VIEW AT JEREMY'S FUTURE RESTING PLACE
Dad
January 8, 2017
Jeremy, I know you saw your memorial from your heavenly perch yesterday but I wanted you to know how heartwarming it was to see and talk to all your friends and teachers. There were almost 200 people there!! It was crazy cool!
Mrs. Schaffer was there but she was very sad because you were a big part of her life at Lake Spokane. She is such a sweet lady. You were very lucky to have her in your life when you were just beginning your education. She did so much for you little mister!
And, Mrs. Steele, your 3rd grade teacher showed up, too. She was a big advocate for you and stood up for you against those who would try to lessen your education. Remember the Blind Olympics she held in your classroom and you won all the gold medals??
There were a bunch of your co-workers there, too. They miss you already and they also sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The flowers are sitting on our counter right now. They smell great!
And, there were sooo many guests who showed up that we ran out of food! Fortunately, a guy with long hair and a beard stopped by and gave us some loaves and fishes to tide us over. Thank him for us, will you? He said he knows you.
Guess what? I've got your urn at home and I'm placing it in the safe until I take your earthly remains to a beautiful overlook at Lake Pend Oreille near the cabin. Its a lovely spot on USFS land where I, too, will have my ashes dispersed. I know you'll like the view and I'll visit with you often. I'll post a photo of this Godly place so you can show the gang up in Heaven.
Talk to you later my son. I love and miss you!

As his teacher, I had Jeremy in 3rd grade and learned far more from him than he did from me! One of my great memories of that year was running Blind Olympics in our classroom. All the contestants wore blindfolds, except Jeremy! The games included the Peanut Butter Challenge, spreading PB on bread, and the Water Glass Challenge, which required us to fill a glass with water without spilling anything, and many more. Needless to say, Jeremy took the Gold and the rest of us were in awe of what he could do. To this day I can walk by a row of businesses, close my eyes and tell you where the doorways are! Jere's and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

We're still in shock that just a little over two weeks after you visited us, God took you home. How we will cherish the memories from that weekend with you and Jeanette. Picking you up at the ferry, going to the Scandinavian Festival in Poulsbo, meeting up with Tiffani and Tim and kids, having lunch including hot chocolate there. Making cookies, more hot chocolate, the Seahawks game, playing the story cube game-you were such a good sport, and a good story teller, celebrating Advent, praying with you, more hot chocolate, saying goodbye at the airport. How little did we know that it would be the last time to be with you this side of Heaven! We are so grateful for the time God gave you with our precious Jeanette. We admired the fact that there never were any pity parties with you and that you just continued to rise to any challenge. We will miss you and your spirit greatly. We love you.

Many memories of Jeremy have been going through my mind. I met him my Freshman year the day I was moving into my dorm at EWU. After that day, we hung out all the time. We had some stomach hurting laughs and crazy times on weekends.
Even after college we stayed friends and even took the time to visit me and a friend in SC. The three of us had some good times in SC.
One thing about him is that he never complained about his circumstances. Jeremy was determined in whatever he wanted to do. When he began to work at Light House he changed and saw life differently and became even more positive and determined. You could see and hear how the people there influenced his life. Jeremy also influenced theirs.
Even though we may have not called as much, I saw how he was doing through his adventures with Jeannette.
I am so lucky to be inspired, touched and affected by his life. Never forgotten!

Thanks also to Deanne and Tom - you were/are incredible parents, not coddling him, but rather, allowing him to try everything, to fail and get up and try again, to become the person he was supposed to be. Having Jeremy as a second cousin has been a great pleasure and has given me a lot of memories of a valiant young man.
Just a little bit ago I got a phone call from a co-worker, who wanted to express her sorrow. Crystal Cava. She attended grade school with Jeremy and years ago she showed me her kindergarten photo of Jeremy and her sitting beside each other. "He was a joker who liked to tease and pull pranks all the time."
Yes, that's Jeremy for you! Loved being a cut-up. May your journey with Jesus be pleasant, now that your medical issues are over.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Jeremy myself (my mother, Sally Manning did) but the fact I am compelled to leave a message here is a testament to the influence of Jeremy's amazing attitude and love for life. Every time my Mother spoke of Jeremy she repeatedly said how impressed she was with him and how much she enjoyed him. She often spoke of how although he himself was challenged in many ways he would go out of his way to help others. She spoke of how Jeremy regularly visited the local blood bank to donate blood and how he saw it not as a charitable act, but rather his "civic duty" that he happily obliged. I shared her tears as I read the tribute to Jeremy's life. How unfortunate I never got to meet such an incredible man but how beautiful that the strength of his spirit still touched my heart and brought inspiration to those he never met.
