Jerry UPPINGHOUSE Obituary

The final curtain call came unexpectedly for Jerry Bo Uppinghouse on November 9th, 2021. Jerry was born in Great Falls Montana to Glen and Doris Uppinghouse on July 5th, 1947. Jerry graduated early from Chaffey High School in Ontario California to join his brother Ronny Uppinghouse in the Navy. Jerry spent one tour of duty in Vietnam on the USS Kitty Hawk before joining his brother for two tours on the USS Coral Sea.

In his pursuit of education, Jerry attended Boise State University and transferred to Eastern Washington University graduating with a degree in Communication Disorders. While attending EWU, Jerry met the love of his life, Karen; of course, while he was preforming in a silly skit. Jerry and Karen were married in 1981.

Jerry's professional career started at West Central Community Center as a Recreation Director. He continued his career with a focus of fundraising for children, working for many non-profit organizations. Jerry returned to his alma mater, EWU, as a Director of Development and a Prospect Researcher, retiring in 2012.

He loved his work, but his passion was theater. He participated in every aspect of community theater; board member, director, actor, writer, set and light designer… If he wasn't at the theater, you could find him at the golf course or at his desk coloring.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Karen: His three children Anjanette Hazzard (Joel), Bo Uppinghouse and Taylor Uppinghouse; Four grandchildren M'Kala, Natasha, David and Tehya; his extended family, theater family and many friends. We will always cherish the memories of his smile, giggle, and passion for life.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Fairmount Sunset Chapel on November 26th at 12pm. Memorial contributions suggested to: EWURA Golden Eagle Scholarship Fund, Spokane Children's Theater, or your favorite community theater. PNW Cremation is handling arrangements

Thank you to everyone that continues to share their siting of the railroad car! I still watch for it but haven´t been lucky enough to see it in person. Jerry would love this tribute

I had the pleasure of being in a show Jerry directed in 1996, "Arsenic and Old Lace". I'm truly saddened to hear of his passing.

Jerry was so important to the theatre community and to us at Ignite Community Theatre. He could always be counted on to lend a hand, fill a role, or provide a laugh. He will be missed by so many.
