John BUCKMASTER Obituary

November 28, 1955 - October 31, 2024

Spokane - John Buckmaster quietly passed away on Thursday, October 31st. Born in Spokane, WA, on November 28th, 1955, he was the third of five children of Eugene (Buck) and Pat Buckmaster. As an Air Force family, the Buckmasters lived in Japan, Georgia, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, but returned to Spokane in 1967. John graduated from North Central High School in 1973. In 1977, he met the love of his life, Kathleen, whom he married in 1981. They were married until her death in 2014, and had two children, Michelle and Stephen. John enjoyed woodworking, playing the drums, collecting clocks, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. John earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Eastern Washington University in 1991, and his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Gonzaga University in 2001. He taught in Spokane Catholic Schools for six years and Cheney Public School District for 25 years. John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Dan Beer; his son, Stephen Buckmaster; his grandchildren, Benny and Abby Beer; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Emily Buckmaster; his brother, Richard; his sister, Margaret; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 219 E. Rockwood Blvd., Spokane, on Saturday, November 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. A Rosary will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W. St. Thomas More Way, Spokane, on Friday, November 22nd, at 7:30 p.m.

I have known the family for about 25 years and worked with Kathleen at St. Charles where Steven and my grandson attended school. My heart goes out for their losses and my prayers to the family.
