John COVILLE Obituary

John A. CoVille Jr. was born on April 20, 1954, to John A. Sr. and Dorothy CoVille in Spokane, WA. He died at home surrounded by loved ones on December 3, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so we take comfort in knowing the promise of eternal life given to all who believe in Jesus.

John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sisters, Carrie Burnett (husband Bruce) and Judy Cassell.

John lived his whole life in Spokane and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1973. John spent a lot of his childhood hanging out with his many friends who lived in the area around Chief Garry Park. He loved all sports, and excelled in bowling (a sport he enjoyed with his mom and sisters), basketball, and softball (playing it well into his 50s).

John married Cindy CoVille on July 12, 1986. John is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Holly Watson (husband Josh and grandson Roan, who Papa John lovingly called "Hurricane"), Gabriel CoVille, and Abby CoVille. He is also survived by numerous extended family.

John provided well for his family, working for School District 81 for 30 years. He considered himself blessed by being able to build a home out in the country and find a beautiful retirement home overlooking the Spokane River.

A Celebration of Life for John will be held Friday, February 7, at 1:00 p.m., at New Horizons Community Church, 3122 W. Lincoln Road, Spokane, WA 99208.

The family would like to express our utmost appreciation for the exceptional care and compassion shown by Horizon Hospice.

Sad to hear of John's passing. He will be missed. He and I met at one of the high school basketball games at the arena. Spent a few months together as a couple. Even after we'd both gone our separate ways, we still remained friends.

I played baseball with John in the early 80's. I remember him as a great guy. Rest in Peace John.
