John Douglas Meyers passed away peacefully in Spokane, Washington, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 77.
John was born in Missoula, Montana, on November 28, 1947, to James E. and Eleanor (Jean) Meyers. A proud Montanan at heart, John grew up with a deep love of family and the outdoors.
In 1970, he earned his Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Montana, followed by his Master of Business from the University of Oregon in 1971. That same year, he began what became a lifelong career with JCPenney Corporation, starting as a trainee and later serving in roles including MAC Advertising Coordinator, District Sales Promotion Manager, District Merchandiser, Business Planning Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and finally, Store Merchandise Planner. John's dedication, work ethic, and leadership were hallmarks of his 47 years with the company, where he remained until his retirement in 2018.
At age 34, John began his walk with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - a journey that shaped every part of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply and provided for them with quiet strength and steadfast love.
John met the love of his life, Ginny Smith, while working at JCPenney. They married in 1975 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2025.
John was a devoted father who led his three children with kindness, patience, and a quiet strength that made them feel safe and deeply loved.
An avid golfer, John discovered the game at an early age through a cousin and went on to play with both great skill and passion for the rest of his life. He found joy and peace on the course, often sharing that love with friends and family.
John is survived by his wife, Ginny; his children, Jeff (Courtney), Joni (Dusty), and Jeremy (Ashley); and his cherished grandchildren, Major, Memphis, Marigold (Goldie) Meyers, Juniper Klink, Jadon, and Selah Meyers. He is also survived by his sister, Janet (Harry) Haines.
John's life was a testament to faith, hard work, and love of family. His steady presence and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
