John PENNINGTON Obituary

PENNINGTON, John S. John was born in the Burnside Township of Pennsylvania to Warren and Marie Pennington. He joined the Air Force in 1954 which brought him to Fairchild Air Force base in Spokane, Washington where he married Norene (Lindley) on January 19, 1958. Serving in the Air Force their stations included Mississippi, Oklahoma, Okinawa, and New York with many TDY's to various other countries before returning to Spokane to retire. Upon retiring in 1974 he started a career as a Computer Technician at Unisys (Burroughs). After many years traveling the state fixing machines, he took a job transporting kids on a Big Yellow School Bus. This kept him busy until Norene was ready to retire and then they could do more traveling and cruising the high sea. He enjoyed many sports. His passion was bowling which led him to coaching youth leagues and even becoming an instructor of coaches. He was also the President of a Monday night league for over 20 years as well as the President of a couple senior leagues. He is survived by his wife Norene, three daughters and their husbands, Patricia (Gerry Klumb), Kathryn (Steve Cree) and Janice (Paul Hunter), seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Service will be held at Washington State Veterans Cemetery on March 3, at 11:15 a.m., located at 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA 99022. Norene,
We were saddened to hear of John's passing. Denny & I reminisced about the out-of-town bowling tournaments and the parties you hosted downstairs at your house playing games and listening to music. Those were fun times and will be remembered fondly. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. John will be missed but not forgotten.

Have so many great memories of the times we have spent together. Grade school with Norene and with her when she met you and then the times fishing with the families and so many more times we spent together. Will miss playing Tripoley when we come to Spokane. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

The neighborhood has lost a wonderful neighbor! We remember fondly John and Silver "patrolling" when Silver thought he heard something and John would say, "Silver, I think you are losing it"! We are truly saddened for the loss to all of you.
